At the invitation of Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand Anutin Charnvirakul and his spouse, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam To Lam and his spouse, along with a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, will pay an official visit to Thailand from May 27-29.

The Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and Thailand is developing positively. Thailand places importance on strengthening and developing friendly cooperative relations with Vietnam.

Thailand is currently Vietnam's largest trading partner within ASEAN. In 2025, the total bilateral trade turnover reached 22.1 billion USD, an increase of 9% compared to 2024; with Vietnam's exports reaching 8.8 billion USD, up 12.7%; and imports reaching 13.3 billion USD, up 6.7%.

Thailand has 797 active investment projects with a total registered capital of 15.4 billion USD, ranking 8th out of 153 countries investing in Vietnam and second among ASEAN countries investing in Vietnam (after Singapore).

Thai investors primarily invest in the processing and manufacturing industry, production, wind power, petrochemicals, real estate business, wholesale, and retail.

Vietnam has about over 20 active investment projects, with a total registered capital of approximately 40 million USD. The projects are mainly in the processing and manufacturing industry, real estate business, and wholesale and retail.

There are about over 100,000 Vietnamese expatriates in Thailand, scattered throughout the country, but mainly concentrated in the northeastern provinces. The number of Vietnamese students studying and researching in Thailand ranges from 2,000 to 3,000.

The Thai Government has recognized the legal status of the Vietnamese expatriate community in terms of residence and employment. In certain localities, Vietnamese expatriates hold certain roles, positions, and prestige in society.

The Vietnamese expatriate community in Thailand has a tradition of `patriotism, reverence for President Ho Chi Minh, and a strong connection to their homeland, making significant contributions to the struggle for national liberation, unification, and nation-building.

The Vietnamese expatriates in Thailand currently have a stable economic life, at a relatively well-off level compared to the local average. Most are engaged in services and small-scale trade.

Some expatriates have risen to become owners of large-scale businesses and service establishments. Some Vietnamese expatriate businesses have invested back in Vietnam, although overall, the scale remains modest.
