Speaking at the hand-over ceremony, Politburo member, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh congratulated new Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Minh Vu and emphasized the confidence of Party, State leaders as well as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to Mr. Nguyen Minh Vu.

Under Decision No.1187/QD-TTg, head of the Foreign Ministry’s Foreign Policy Department Nguyen Minh Vu was appointed as Deputy Foreign Minister. Before becoming head of the department in March 2018, Vu served as permanent deputy head of the APEC National Secretariat 2017.

As one of the youngest Deputy Foreign Ministers so far, Deputy PM Minh said that this is a great milestone in the diplomatic career of the newly-appointed Deputy Foreign Minister. However, the new position “requires greater responsibility and effort of Mr. Nguyen Minh Vu in the forth-coming time.”

The Vietnamese top diplomat expressed his belief that Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Minh Vu will smoothly coordinate with the MOFA leaders, colleagues and successfully accomplish his duties in the future.

For his part, the newly-appointed Deputy FM thanked for the confidence of Party, State and MOFA leaders in general, and the support of the MOFA leaders and colleagues in particular. Mr Nguyen Minh Vu also affirmed his greater efforts to promote his full capacity and perform well the tasks assigned by the Party, State and people, thereby contributing to the overall success of external work.

Accordingly, the Foreign Ministry now has six deputy ministers, namely Bui Thanh Son, Le Hoai Trung, Nguyen Quoc Cuong, Nguyen Quoc Dung, To Anh Dung and Nguyen Minh Vu.
