Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung welcomes Nepalese Ambassador Dhan Bahadur Oli

WVR - On the afternoon of December 13, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters, Member of the Party Central Committee's Secretariat and Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung welcomed Dhan Bahadur Oli, the non-resident Ambassador of Nepal to Vietnam, on the occasion of the Ambassador presenting his credentials.

During the meeting, Foreign Minister Trung congratulated Ambassador Dhan Bahadur Oli on presenting his credentials to President Luong Cuong, officially commencing his term in Vietnam. He also praised the longstanding traditional friendship and multi-faceted cooperation between Vietnam and Nepal. The Foreign Minister emphasized that 2025 marks the significant milestone of 50 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries and expressed his delight at the positive development of bilateral relations in recent years, especially following Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan's official visit to Nepal in August 2025.

The Foreign Minister highlighted that the shared cultural and religious similarities, particularly Buddhism, along with a common vision on regional and international issues, form a crucial foundation and bond that strengthens the friendship between the peoples of both nations. Building on 50 years of strong relations, the Foreign Minister proposed that both sides work more closely to leverage potential and advantages, deepening and substantiating cooperation across various fields.

The Foreign Minister suggested that the Ambassador enhance connections between the ministries, sectors, businesses, and associations of both countries through delegation exchanges or online forums to foster mutual understanding. He also called for the early establishment of a consultation mechanism between the two Foreign Ministries and the negotiation and signing of key agreements to create a stable cooperation framework, including those on trade and investment. He encouraged establishing cooperative relations between the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Nepal Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and urged airlines to open direct or convenient connecting flights between the two countries.

On this occasion, the Foreign Minister also requested that the Ambassador and the Nepalese Government support and facilitate the Vietnamese community in Nepal in their living, studying, and doing business activities.

Ambassador Dhan Bahadur Oli thanked the Foreign Minister for the meeting and for his attention and support towards the bilateral relations. The Ambassador shared insights on Nepal's situation, noting that Nepal is striving to stabilize the situation and aims to hold elections early in 2026.

The Ambassador also shared that the Nepalese Government and people are making efforts to achieve economic and social development goals, aiming to exit the group of least developed countries by 2027.

The Ambassador emphasized that Nepalese leaders highly value relations with Vietnam and wish to learn from Vietnam's experiences and models in economic and social development and international integration. He affirmed his commitment to developing specific plans to promote bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, energy, science and technology, culture, tourism, education, and training, as well as enhancing people-to-people exchanges between Vietnam and Nepal.

Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung and the Ambassador affirmed their commitment to continue close cooperation and mutual support in multilateral forums, especially in candidacies for important United Nations bodies. Additionally,
