WVR - On the afternoon of December 12, in Hanoi, Member of the Party Central Committee's Secretariat and Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung held an phone talks with Thongsavanh Phomvihane, Member of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Laos, to discuss Vietnam-Laos cooperation and share perspectives on several global and regional issues of mutual concern.

Foreign Minister Trung expressed gratitude to the senior leaders and people of Laos for their warm and respectful reception of General Secretary To Lam and his spouse, along with the high-level Vietnamese delegation during their state visit to Laos. They attended the 50th National Day of Laos and co-chaired the high-level meeting between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (from December 1-2), as well as Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính co-chairing the 48th session of the Vietnam-Laos Intergovernmental Committee (December 3), showcasing the profound special solidarity between Vietnam and Laos.

Foreign Minister Trung emphasized that recent diplomatic activities have marked significant milestones, opening a new chapter and elevating the relationship between the two Parties and nations to a new level with deeper content.

Lao Foreign Minister Thongsavanh Phomvihane expressed delight at witnessing the robust development of bilateral relations, appreciating the frequent high-level contacts that demonstrate the close and trustworthy ties between the two Parties, States, and peoples.

On this occasion, besides agreeing to continue closely coordinating to effectively implement high-level agreements and prepare well for the upcoming Party Congresses of each country, both sides also emphasized the need to continue effectively implementing the Cooperation Agreement between the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs for the 2026-2030 period.

During the call, the two Foreign Ministers agreed to continue maintaining close coordination and enhancing cooperation under new frameworks and orientations, emphasizing the importance of the 16-word motto "great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation, strategic linkage".

Both sides also shared perspectives on global and regional situations, agreeing to actively exchange assessments and closely coordinate positions on issues of mutual interest in the region, particularly within the ASEAN framework, for peace, stability, and sustainable development.

Foreign Minister Trung expressed his hope to soon welcome Foreign Minister Thongsavanh Phomvihane to Vietnam and co-chair the 12th Ministerial-level Political Consultation in the near future.
