At the meeting, Foreign Minister Trung congratulated Cambodia on its significant achievements and expressed confidence that Cambodia will continue to maintain peace, stability, and prosperity. Vietnam highly values and prioritizes strengthening and developing its relationship with Cambodia and is pleased to see that the Vietnam-Cambodia relationship has continued to deepen and achieve positive results in recent times.
Political and foreign relations have been further strengthened, with both sides regularly exchanging delegations and engaging in high-level contacts. Notably, in 2025, the Chairman of the Cambodian People's Party and the President of the Senate attended major Vietnamese celebrations; the Prime Ministers of both countries inaugurated the Tan Nam-Meun Chey international border gate pair; bilateral cooperation mechanisms such as the Joint Committee and the Conference on Vietnam-Cambodia Border Provinces Cooperation and Development have been maintained and effectively promoted.
Defense and security cooperation continues to play a pivotal role. Economic cooperation remains a highlight in the bilateral relationship, with high growth in bilateral trade. Education-training, culture, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges are being actively promoted.

Appreciating the positive contributions of Ambassador Chea Kimtha in strengthening and developing Vietnam-Cambodia relations, the Minister is confident that Ambassador Chea Kimtha will continue to contribute positively to preserving and nurturing the tradition of solidarity, friendship, cooperation, and mutual assistance between the two countries.
Ambassador Chea Kimtha conveyed the New Year 2026 greetings from the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia to Minister Le Hoai Trung; she thanked the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs for always facilitating her mission.
On the occasion of the 47th anniversary of the victory over the Pol Pot genocidal regime (January 7, 1979 - January 7, 2026), on behalf of the Cambodian Government and personally, the Ambassador expressed gratitude to the Party, State, and People of Vietnam, especially the Vietnamese volunteer soldiers who sacrificed their lives, standing shoulder to shoulder with the armed forces of the Cambodian National United Front for National Salvation in the liberation of Cambodia from the genocidal regime.

Delighted to witness Vietnam's significant achievements during her tenure, the Ambassador praised Vietnam's reform and streamlining policies, expressing confidence that Vietnam's 14th Party Congress will be a resounding success and that Vietnam will achieve its goals of becoming a modern industrialized nation with upper-middle income by 2030 and a high-income developed country by 2045.
On this occasion, in recognition of the Ambassador's positive contributions to the development of bilateral Vietnam-Cambodia relations and the progress of Vietnam's diplomatic sector, on behalf of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Minister Le Hoai Trung presented Ambassador Chea Kimtha with the "For the Cause of Vietnam's Diplomacy" medal.
