Final round of 'Overseas Vietnamese Singing – Homeland Affection' in Thailand

WVR - The final round of the "Overseas Vietnamese Singing – Homeland Affection" competition concluded with many impressive performances, creating a vibrant cultural space that connected the Vietnamese community living in Thailand.

On the evening of December 7, the final round took place at the VT Namnueng Center in Udon Thani province, in a warm and lively atmosphere, attracting a large number of Vietnamese expatriates and Thai friends.

Attending the program were Dinh Hoang Linh, Consul General of Vietnam in Khon Kaen; Nguyen Ngoc Thin, Chairman of the Vietnamese Association in Thailand; Luong Xuan Hoa, Vice Chairman of the Vietnamese Association in Thailand, Chairman of the Vietnamese Association in Udon Thani province; and Ho Van Lam, Head of the Organizing Committee, Chairman of the Thai-Vietnamese Business Association.

Representing the Udon Thani provincial government was Deputy Governor Nattapong Khamvongpin, along with leaders of several city and provincial departments. More than 500 Vietnamese expatriates from various regions of Thailand and local friends who love Vietnam were also present to cheer.

In his opening speech, Mr. Ho Van Lam emphasized that the competition is not only a musical playground for the community but also a meaningful activity in preserving the Vietnamese language and traditional culture.

According to him, the preliminary round on December 6 left many beautiful impressions, showcasing the confidence, talent, and homeland affection of the contestants. He congratulated the outstanding faces in the final and hoped they would continue to showcase their abilities and shine on stage.

Congratulating the contestants, Consul General Dinh Hoang Linh assessed that the competition reflects the patriotism and solidarity of the overseas Vietnamese community and contributes to deepening the Vietnam-Thailand friendship.

According to the Consul General, the enthusiastic participation of expatriates of all ages, from 76-year-old Vu Thi Man to 5-year-old Thien Thu, demonstrates the vibrant life of the Vietnamese language and traditional culture within the community.

He expressed his impression of the performances praising the homeland, the country, and President Ho Chi Minh, especially the performances by young Thai people who love the Vietnamese language and culture.

At the event, Chairman of the Vietnamese Association in Thailand, Nguyen Ngoc Thin, also affirmed the sacred and proud significance of the event when it comes to the homeland and President Ho Chi Minh, while creating a distinct Vietnamese cultural space among the expatriate community.

The melodies in the competition, he noted, are not only a tribute to Uncle Ho but also affirm the love for the homeland and the faith in the nation's traditions and future.

On behalf of the Udon Thani provincial government, Deputy Governor Natthapong Khamwongpin expressed his honor to attend the final round.

He acknowledged the efforts and artistic talents of the Vietnamese community in Thailand and hoped the event would be the beginning of more extensive cultural exchanges at regional, national, and international levels, enhancing friendship and understanding between the two peoples.

In the final night, 26 contestants performed songs praising the homeland, the country, and President Ho Chi Minh, such as "Vietnam My Homeland", "Vietnamese Land Echoes Through the Ages", "Songs Dedicated to Uncle Ho"…

The jury evaluated based on vocal ability, performance style, creativity, and stage presence.

The awards were divided into four groups: Youth under 20; individuals aged 21–59; individuals aged 60 and above; and Vietnamese students in Thailand. Each First Prize was worth 15,000 baht, Second Prize 10,000 baht, Third Prize 7,000 baht, and Consolation Prize 3,000 baht.

After a rigorous judging process, the jury awarded 26 prizes, including 04 First Prizes, 04 Second Prizes, 04 Third Prizes, and 14 Consolation Prizes. The 04 First Prizes were awarded to Juthaihip, Mr. Kongpop, Mr. Bansnk, and Ms. Pham Thi Ai Hoa.

The "Overseas Vietnamese Singing – Homeland Affection" competition was organized by the Thai-Vietnamese Business Association in collaboration with the VT Namnueng Community Center over two days, December 6 and 7, under the patronage of the Vietnamese Consulate General in Khon Kaen.

The event was held to commemorate the 80th National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 – September 2, 2025) and the 135th birth anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19, 1890 – May 19, 2025).
