Deputy FM Le Thi Thu Hang: Enhancing local connectivity, facilitating Vietnam–Russia exchanges

WVR - On April 14, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang received a delegation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, led by Mr. Kapyrin Igor Nikolaevich, Director General of the Department for Relations with the Federal Subjects, the Parliament, and Social Associations.

Attending the meeting were Mr. Bezdetko Gennady Stepanovich, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Vietnam, and representatives from relevant units of the Foreign Ministries of both countries.

During the meeting, Deputy Foreign Minister Le Thi Thu Hang affirmed that Vietnam always values the traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership with the Russian Federation. Acknowledging the positive cooperation results between the two countries in recent times, the Deputy Minister proposed that both sides continue to enhance delegation exchanges and closely coordinate to effectively implement the agreements reached, thereby promoting stable, substantive, and long-term bilateral relations.

Emphasizing the increasingly important role of local cooperation, the Deputy Minister suggested continuing to promote connectivity and exploring the establishment of a regular meeting mechanism between the localities of the two countries to enhance information exchange, share experiences, and connect cooperation needs. The Deputy Minister also suggested that the Russian side consider and promote the temporary visa exemption for Vietnamese citizens to facilitate people-to-people exchanges and expand cooperation in various fields.

Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang proposed coordinating to review, exchange, adjust, and complete the cooperation agreements signed between the localities of the two countries, in line with Vietnam's administrative unit reorganization, ensuring continuity and enhancing implementation effectiveness in the new situation.

Mr. Kapyrin Igor Nikolaevich expressed his thanks for the warm reception from the Vietnamese side and agreed with the cooperation directions outlined by Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang to strengthen and deepen the traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and the Russian Federation. Appreciating Vietnam's completion of the administrative unit reorganization, the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation affirmed close coordination with relevant agencies to promote the implementation of cooperation content and expand cooperation in potential fields, especially in local cooperation, ensuring alignment with the new situation and enhancing implementation effectiveness.

As part of the working visit, on April 15, the Foreign Ministries of the two countries organized departmental consultations on local cooperation between Vietnam and the Russian Federation, thereby concretizing the exchanged content and promoting more practical and effective cooperation between the localities of the two countries in the coming time.
