The statement was made at the Foreign Ministry’s conference to review its work in 2017 and set forth orientations and tasks for 2018.
Participants agreed that 2017 was considered one of the most successful years in terms of foreign relations. Relations with important and prioritised partners, especially neighbouring and great powers, have developed in a deep, stable and sustainable manner.

Notably, the success of the APEC Year 2017 contributed to elevating the role of Vietnam’s multilateral diplomacy.
At the event, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh said the regional and global situations continue to develop complicatedly in 2018. Therefore, the inclusive and most important task of the sector is to continue maintaining the peaceful and stable environment, attract more resources to serve sustainable development, safeguard the nation’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and improve the position and strength of the nation, Minh stated.
This year, the foreign ministry will work to create a favourable environment for development and international integration.
