In a gesture of solidarity and cooperation, a delegation from the Huoi Puoc Border Guard station in the northern province of Dien Bien presented essentials to Border Guard Company 161 and Border Guard Company 163 under the Military Command of Laos' Luang Prabang province, at the Huoi Puoc Border Gate on June 5.

The donation, consisting of metal cabinets, dining tables and chairs, clocks, roofing sheets, and barbed wire, was to concretise a memorandum of understanding reached during a meeting between border guard stations from Dien Bien and Son La provinces, and their Lao counterparts on May 28. These supplies aim to improve working conditions of Lao border guards, ultimately enhancing the effectiveness of border management and protection.

Sen. Lieut. Col Khuat Van Tien, Chief of the Huoi Puoc Border Guard station, reaffirmed the commitment to continued collaboration between the two sides. He highlighted future plans for joint efforts in educational campaigns and information dissemination to raise awareness among border communities about laws of both Vietnam and Laos, and strict adherence to border management regulations and border gate agreements established for the Vietnam-Laos mainland border.

He also committed to increased coordination to effectively combat cross-border hunting, illegal logging, smuggling, and livestock trafficking, toward building a border of peace, friendship, stability, cooperation and development.
