The Deputy Prime Minister commended the continued positive development of bilateral relations, with both sides engaging in meaningful activities to commemorate 30 years of diplomatic relations. In this spirit, he proposed that both sides maintain the positive momentum of bilateral relations, including exchanges and delegation visits at all levels, particularly high-level ones.
He affirmed Vietnam's desire to cooperate more closely with the U.S. in areas of mutual interest within the framework of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, especially in science and technology, high-quality human resource training, energy, semiconductors, and maintaining good cooperation in post-war recovery and trust-building efforts.
The Deputy Prime Minister appreciated the continued close cooperation and exchanges between the two negotiating teams and urged the U.S. to consider the unique aspects of Vietnam's economy during the negotiation of the bilateral tax agreement.
He confirmed that Vietnam will continue to increase its purchase of U.S. goods, particularly high-tech products such as aircraft and semiconductors, expand the market for U.S. goods, and facilitate effective business operations for U.S. companies in Vietnam.
Ambassador Knapper emphasized the significance of 2025 in the bilateral relationship as both countries celebrate 30 years of diplomatic relations. The U.S. Embassy in Hanoi has been and will continue to coordinate with Vietnamese agencies and localities to organize meaningful commemorative activities, aiming for a bright future between the two nations and their peoples. Ambassador Knapper stressed the importance of promoting delegation exchanges and contacts at all levels, including high-level ones, to maintain the substantial and positive development of bilateral relations.
Ambassador Knapper expressed gratitude for Vietnam's proactive and understanding approach to U.S. concerns, actively promoting negotiations early on, and affirmed the U.S. desire for both sides to soon complete negotiations to implement the bilateral tax agreement, benefiting both countries.
He also confirmed that the U.S. Embassy will closely coordinate with the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other ministries and sectors in the coming time to discuss measures to expand cooperation in all fields, with the hope of a strong, independent, resilient, and prosperous Vietnam, and a robust Vietnam-U.S. Comprehensive Strategic Partnership contributing more to peace, cooperation, and development in the region and the world.
