Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang receives CNN Executive Vice President in Hanoi
WVR - On May 25, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang met with Mr. Phil Nelson, Executive Vice President of CNN, to discuss potential media cooperation, promoting the image of Vietnam, and communication efforts for the APEC 2027 hosted by Vietnam.

During the meeting, Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang highly appreciated the goodwill, attention, and positive contributions of CNN to Vietnam in recent times through programs and documentaries introducing the country, people, and culture of Vietnam to a global audience; especially the collaborative projects with ministries, sectors, and localities to promote tourism and the national and local images of Vietnam internationally.
The Deputy Minister emphasized that after nearly 40 years of Doi Moi, Vietnam is entering a new phase of development with goals for rapid, sustainable growth and deep international integration.
In this context, hosting APEC 2027 is not only a great honour but also a significant opportunity to promote the country's image, showcase development achievements, cultural identity, tourism potential, and Vietnam's development orientation to the international community, particularly the younger generation, through multimedia platforms and new technologies.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Phil Nelson thanked the Vietnamese ministries, sectors, and localities for their cooperation and support of CNN in recent times; he also expressed his hope to continue telling stories about a “new Vietnam” – a nation experiencing strong economic growth, innovation, technology, and possessing a rich cultural identity.
Mr. Phil Nelson stated that CNN is enhancing the development of a multi-platform media ecosystem, expanding from traditional television to digital platforms and social networks such as TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram to more effectively reach the younger audience.
He also expressed a desire to expand cooperation with Vietnamese agencies and localities in media, tourism promotion, culture, innovation, and economic growth; additionally, he mentioned that CNN is interested in exploring communication ideas, promotional content, and the possibility of partnering with Vietnam in the preparation and organization of APEC 2027.
Both sides agreed to continue maintaining exchanges and close coordination to explore suitable forms of cooperation, contributing to effectively promoting the image of Vietnam and APEC 2027 to international friends, global audience.
