During the meeting, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung highly appreciated the achievements in Vietnam-U.S. cooperation in recent times across various fields such as political diplomacy, economic trade, national defense security, science and technology, and innovation, as well as cooperation in addressing international and regional issues of mutual concern.
The Prime Minister expressed his desire for both sides to continue close coordination to promote the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, deepening it to bring tangible benefits to the people of both nations, contributing to peace, stability, development, and prosperity in the region and the world, in line with the directives of General Secretary, President To Lam and U.S. President Donald Trump.
Prime Minister Le Minh Hung welcomed the positive outcomes achieved in the negotiations of the reciprocal, fair, and balanced Vietnam-U.S. trade agreement, and appreciated the role of the U.S. Trade Representative and Ambassador Switzer personally.
The Prime Minister affirmed that the Vietnamese Government will continue to work closely with the U.S. side to soon finalize the agreement, thereby further deepening economic, trade, and investment cooperation, which is the main driving force for advancing bilateral relations.
He emphasized that the Vietnamese Government always welcomes and is ready to create the most favourable conditions for U.S. businesses to continue expanding their investment and successful operations in Vietnam, contributing to Vietnam's development goals.
He affirmed that Vietnam does not have a policy of creating excess capacity, and Vietnamese businesses operate according to market mechanisms. The two economies are complementary and do not directly compete with each other. Vietnamese law strictly prohibits all forms of forced labor. Vietnam actively participates in and implements related international commitments, including conventions of the International Labour Organization (ILO) and free trade agreements (FTAs).
Vietnam is determined to combat and strictly handle violations of intellectual property rights, which is a priority for Vietnam, linked to the innovation of the development model, and the implementation of Resolution 57 on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation, and digital transformation.

For his part, Ambassador Switzer expressed his honor and gratitude to Prime Minister Le Minh Hung for taking the time to meet, and respectfully conveyed the congratulations from President Donald Trump and U.S. leaders to the Prime Minister on his election to the new, highly responsible position.
Ambassador Switzer appreciated the positive results in the bilateral relationship, including the economic-trade sector in recent times, emphasizing that Vietnam is one of the United States' top important partners, with economic-trade cooperation contributing positively to the overall development of bilateral relations.
Ambassador Switzer highlighted the importance of the reciprocal trade agreement to the economic-trade cooperation between the two countries, appreciated the positive and cooperative spirit of the Vietnamese Government's ministries, sectors, and negotiation teams in recent times, and affirmed that the U.S. Trade Representative and he personally will continue to work closely with the Vietnamese Government's ministries and sectors, making every effort to reach an agreement soon, contributing positively to the further development of bilateral relations in the future.
