Former Vice President Nguyen Thi Binh receives Palestine’s ‘Star of Merit’ Order

Attending the ceremony were Nguyen Xuan Thang, a member of the 13th Politburo and Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council; Nguyen Hoang Anh, Deputy Chief of the Office of the President; and Nguyen Minh Hang, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.
General Secretary of the Communist Party of Việt Nam Central Committee and President To Lam sent a congratulatory flower basket to former Vice President Nguyen Thi Binh on the occasion.
In his speech at the ceremony, Palestinian Ambassador to Vietnam Saadi Salama expressed his honour to represent President Mahmoud Abbas in presenting this prestigious award from the State of Palestine to former Vice President Nguyen Thi Binh. He described her as an outstanding leader of Vietnam, a symbol of the resilience and diplomatic intelligence of revolutionary Vietnam, and a steadfast friend of the Palestinian people.

According to Ambassador Saadi Salama, the "Star of Merit" Order not only acknowledges Vice President Nguyen Thi Binh's persistent contributions to the struggle for national independence, peace, and justice but also represents the deep gratitude of the State and people of Palestine for a friend who has consistently supported Palestine over the decades.
The Ambassador emphasized that Nguyen Thi Binh's name is linked with significant historical milestones in Vietnam's journey to achieve national independence, reunification, and peace-building. Particularly, her crucial role in diplomatic activities leading to the signing of the Paris Agreement laid the groundwork for peace, stability, and reconciliation, inspiring many nations fighting for self-determination and justice.

Ambassador Saadi Salama affirmed that for the Palestinian people, Nguyen Thi Binh is a symbol of courage, diplomatic intelligence, and steadfastness to the principles of international law. She has always advocated for justice, human rights, and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to live in freedom, independence, and dignity in their homeland.
The Palestinian Ambassador also noted that the awarding ceremony is a vivid testament to the profound friendship between the Palestinian and Vietnamese people, two nations sharing aspirations for peace, independence, and faith in international justice.
On this occasion, Ambassador Saadi Salama extended his best wishes for health, peace, and happiness to former Vice President Nguyen Thi Binh and expressed confidence that the friendly and cooperative relations between Palestine and Vietnam will continue to thrive in the future.

In her speech at the ceremony, former Vice President Nguyen Thi Binh expressed her deep emotions and sincere gratitude to the State of Palestine for awarding her the "Star of Merit" Order, a prestigious honour reflecting the friendship, solidarity, and respect for her and the Vietnamese people.
According to the former Vice President, the relationship between Palestine and Vietnam is a traditional one. In the past, the Vietnamese people strongly supported Palestine's liberation struggle. Today, amid a complex global situation, the Vietnamese people remain steadfast and strong supporters of Palestine's cause for an independent state.

“I hope that the friendship between the Vietnamese and Palestinian people will continue to flourish,” shared former Vice President Nguyen Thi Binh.
The former Vice President expressed confidence that the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Palestine will continue to be preserved, nurtured, and strengthened by future generations of both countries. She also extended her gratitude to President Mahmoud Abbas, Ambassador Saadi Salama, and the Palestinian people for their goodwill towards her and the Vietnamese people.
