WVR - On the morning of February 3, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters, Member of the Party Central Committee, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Manh Cuong received Lao Ambassador to Vietnam Khamphao Ernthavanh, who came to extend congratulations on the occasion of the 96th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3, 1930 – February 3, 2026).

During the meeting, Ambassador Khamphao Ernthavanh warmly congratulated the 96th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam and celebrated the successful 14th Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam. He affirmed that Vietnam's comprehensive achievements in recent times underscore the leadership role and correct policies of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

The Ambassador emphasized that the close, loyal, and transparent relationship between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Lao People's Revolutionary Party is a solid political foundation and an invaluable asset for the relations between the two countries. In the context of the successful organization of the 12th Congress of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and the 14th Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the cooperative relationship between the two Parties continues to be strengthened, strategically guiding the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos in the new phase.

The Ambassador highly appreciated the role and contributions of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs in effectively implementing the Party's foreign policy in general and significantly contributing to strengthening and developing the special relationship between the two Parties, two States, and the peoples of the two countries in particular. The Ambassador expressed confidence that the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to contribute and promote the role of foreign affairs and international integration, which the Party has identified as a crucial and regular task in the coming time.

Ambassador Khamphao Ernthavanh conveyed the warm congratulations of the Lao Party and State leaders to the Party, State, and people of Vietnam, affirming the leadership role and correct policies of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

On this occasion, Ambassador Khamphao Ernthavanh, on behalf of the Lao Party, State, and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, expressed deep gratitude to the Vietnamese Party, State leaders, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, along with relevant Vietnamese agencies, for their close coordination in organizing and arranging the very successful state visit to Vietnam by General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith. The Ambassador noted that Comrade Thongloun Sisoulith and the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party highly appreciated the content and program of the visit, especially the thoughtful, respectful, and affectionate reception by the Vietnamese side. This was the first overseas visit by General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith after the 12th Congress, carrying special political significance and further affirming the unique, special friendship between the two Parties and States.

For his part, on behalf of Member of the Politburo, Secretary of the Party Committee, Minister Le Hoai Trung, and members of the Party Committee's Standing Committee and Ministry leaders, Deputy Minister Nguyen Manh Cuong expressed deep gratitude to Ambassador Khamphao Ernthavanh and the Lao Party, State, and Ministry of Foreign Affairs leaders for their good wishes and sentiments on the Party's founding anniversary. He noted that throughout history, the Party, State, and people of Vietnam and the Lao Party, State, and people have always supported, accompanied, and closely bonded with each other. He affirmed that Vietnam consistently prioritizes strengthening and developing the cooperative relationship between the two Parties and the great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation, and strategic connection between Vietnam and Laos.

Both sides affirmed their commitment to continue strengthening close coordination across diplomatic channels, contributing to deepening the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos in the new phase.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Manh Cuong highly appreciated the close and effective coordination of the Ambassador and the Lao Embassy in Vietnam in implementing comprehensive foreign affairs activities across all diplomatic channels, including Party diplomacy, state diplomacy, and people-to-people diplomacy in recent times. Most recently, the very successful state visit to Vietnam by General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith was the first foreign leader Vietnam welcomed after the 14th Congress. He suggested that both sides continue to coordinate and ensure the best preparation for the upcoming state visit to Laos by General Secretary To Lam and the high-level delegation of the Vietnamese Party and State on February 5, 2026. This diplomatic activity holds special significance, clearly demonstrating the political determination to align strategic vision with concrete action programs, linking development aspirations with practical effectiveness for both Vietnam and Laos.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Manh Cuong also expressed his desire to continue receiving close cooperation from Ambassador Khamphao Ernthavanh and the Lao Embassy in Vietnam in the future, to continue effectively implementing comprehensive foreign affairs activities across channels and levels, thereby contributing to further deepening the traditional special relationship, great friendship, special solidarity, and strategic connection between Vietnam and Laos.
