During the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Long affirmed Vietnam's consistent policy of prioritizing the protection, care, and comprehensive development of children within its human development strategy. He emphasized efforts to ensure children develop holistically in terms of physical, intellectual, spiritual, moral, and social skills, and to guarantee equal access to basic services for all children, with a special focus on vulnerable children.

The Deputy Minister expressed appreciation and gratitude to UNICEF for its support to Vietnam in responding to the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as for its contributions over the past half-century to the protection, care, and education of children in Vietnam, marking 50 years of cooperation (1975-2025).

In addition to appreciating the results of UNICEF's National Program in Vietnam for 2022-2026, Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Long suggested that both parties continue to work closely to implement the National Program for 2027-2031. He urged UNICEF to continue accompanying Vietnam in achieving the country's development goals and vision.

For his part, Mr. Sanjay Wijesekera stated that Vietnam was the first country he visited after assuming the role of Regional Director of UNICEF. He expressed his admiration for Vietnam's achievements in child and education sectors, affirming that Vietnam is exemplary in investing in human development, particularly for children.
