Bridging Vietnamese heritage with the international community

Vietnam has many natural landscapes and valuable heritage. Up to date, Vietnam has 9 heritage sites recognized by UNESCO as World Natural and Cultural Heritage sites, including 5 Cultural Heritage Sites, 3 Natural Heritage Sites and 1 Mixed Heritage Site. World heritage sites in Vietnam have been actively contributing to the country's sustainable socio-economic development.

These titles show the international community's appreciation for Vietnam's heritage and cultural values. Since then, Vietnam has become an attractive cultural destination. In 2022, Vietnam was elected to the Inter-Governmental Committee of the 2003 Convention on the Protection of UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage, with 4 more internationally registered titles/heritages.

In the work of registering, preserving and promoting the value of Vietnam's world cultural and natural heritages, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is an important bridge. From there, the international community can better understand the global values of Vietnamese culture and heritage, and better understand Vietnamese culture, country and people.

Heritage is recognized not only for the expertise and value of the heritage itself, but also for the world's affection towards us. They love our culture, as they love Central Highlands gongs, Ca tru, Xoan singing, Thang Long Imperial Citadel, Hue Royal Court Music, etc.

I believe that with our recognized heritage, people in the world and international organizations will understand more about the Vietnamese people. Just as General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong said, our country has never had the fortune, potential, position and international reputation as it has today.

In my opinion, the fortune we have is not just material, in my opinion it is the trust of the international community in Vietnam and this fortune needs to be promoted.

I believe that Vietnam will increasingly develop and have an increasingly higher position in the international arena. Those working in diplomacy and culture need to coordinate with each other to both protect and honor the country's cultural heritage. At the same time, people also need to appreciate the diplomatic achievements that have been achieved and must be responsible for preserving and promoting those achievements.

Enhancing national status

It can be said that the international community highly appreciates the value of Vietnam's national heritage and culture, as well as Vietnam's policy of always attaching importance to culture, identifying culture as the spiritual foundation of society, the goals and motivation for sustainable development.

To promote cultural diplomacy and heritage diplomacy in the coming time, in my opinion, it is necessary to continue to research and innovate forms of promoting cultural values, the image of the country, culture and people of Vietnam. At the same time, integrate cultural promotion activities with trade promotion programs and national branding so that culture truly becomes an endogenous strength, attracting external resources.

Besides, to increase Vietnam's recognition globally, we also need to promote soft power. The Cultural Diplomacy Strategy until 2030 has identified cultural diplomacy through cultural tools in diplomacy, contributing to promoting the image of the country, culture and people of Vietnam to the international community. From there, honor the intelligence, qualities, character, and noble ideals of the Vietnamese people and elevate the value of Vietnamese culture as well as arouse the desire to develop the country, strengthen soft power, and enhance the position of Vietnamese people. national position.

It can be said that cultural diplomacy has been flexibly and skillfully applied by our ancestors in the struggle, protection and construction of the country. In times of war, we affirm our spirit of loving peace. In particular, in the period of innovation, the diplomatic sector has further promoted that spirit. Our diplomatic strategy has brought proud success. Our representative agencies abroad are increasingly prestigious.

Vietnam went through a difficult and fierce war. Diplomatic representative missions abroad are an important bridge to help peoples, countries and territories around the world properly understand Vietnam. Vientam is a peace-loving people with a long-standing culture and rich identity. From the cooperative relationship, the world increasingly sees the Vietnamese people as friendly, hospitable, and responsible to the international community; At the same time, the role and position of our country is increasingly higher, going into essence, innovating, and building a strong and prosperous country.
