During the meeting, Editor-in-Chief Son expressed his delight in meeting Ambassador Polanco on the occasion of his new term in Vietnam. The meeting held even greater significance as it took place at the beginning of the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Year 2025, marking the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations (December 2, 1960 – 2025), especially following the highly successful official visit to Vietnam just a day earlier by Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla.

Emphasizing that Cuba holds a special place in the hearts of the Vietnamese people, Editor-in-Chief Son expressed his aspiration to strengthen cooperation with the Cuban Embassy to contribute to the overall development of the special relationship between the two nations. In the immediate future, this collaboration will focus on activities commemorating the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2025.

Introducing Ambassador Rogelio Polanco Fuentes to the various media products of The World & Vietnam Report, including print and online editions, periodic publications, talk shows, and social media platforms, Editor-in-Chief Son expressed his hope that in 2025, the newspaper will produce numerous media pieces highlighting the special relationship and enduring, pure friendship between Vietnam and Cuba. These would also feature images and stories about the Cuban people and their homeland, a nation located halfway across the globe.

Ambassador Fuentes shared that he felt the warmth and closeness of the meeting, as if among family. He expressed his deep impression of The World & Vietnam Report’s publications, noting the newspaper’s swift and high-quality reporting in both content and imagery. In particular, he praised the coverage of high-level visits between the two countries, most recently the visit of Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla.

According to the the Cuban Ambassador, 2025 will be a significant year for bilateral relations, as both nations celebrate the 65th anniversary of diplomatic ties. The Ambassador expressed his hope that the Cuban Embassy and The World & Vietnam Report would seize new opportunities for collaboration in 2025—the Year of the Snake, symbolizing transformation and growth. He also mentioned that several commemorative activities are planned for this milestone year, including high-level visits and exchanges across multiple sectors. He looks forward to the newspaper’s support in communication activities promoting these important events.

Ambassador Rogelio Polanco Fuentes expressed his desire to collaborate with the World & Vietnam Report to implement several initiatives, including the celebration of the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations, the publication of special editions, and the release of articles. His goal is to enhance Vietnam's presence in Cuba and vice versa, not only through historical narratives from wartime but also by showcasing Vietnam’s remarkable progress and development today.

Appreciating the Ambassador’s practical cooperation proposals, Editor-in-Chief Son expressed confidence that both sides would further strengthen exchanges. He emphasized that this collaboration would help further promote the Vietnam-Cuba relationship, attracting broader domestic and international audiences, contributing meaningfully to the longstanding solidarity, special friendship, and comprehensive cooperation between the two nations.

On this occasion, the Editor-in-Chief presented Ambassador Rogelio Polanco Fuentes with a number of publications produced by the World & Vietnam Report on Vietnam-Cuba relations. Among them was the latest special edition commemorating the 50th anniversary of Cuban leader Fidel Castro’s visit to the liberated zone in Quang Tri in 1973.
