Consulate General of Vietnam in Guangzhou celebrates the 81st anniversary of National Day

The ceremony was attended by Zhang Shaokang, Vice Chairman of the Guangdong Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference; Wang Guilin, Vice Chairman of the Guangzhou Municipal Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference; leaders of the Guangdong Provincial Foreign Affairs Office and numerous cities under Guangdong Province; leaders of associations and enterprises, along with numerous organizations, research agencies, and a large number of overseas Vietnamese, students living, working, and studying locally.
In his speech at the event, Consul General Nguyen Viet Dung recounted the historical milestones in the 81-year development journey of the country. The Vietnamese nation, through hardships and sacrifices, has united as one, steadfastly defending independence, national unity, and continuously advancing the cause of renewal, building, and developing the country, deeply integrating into the international community, achieving significant accomplishments, rising to become a dynamic economy, deeply integrated into the global economy, and a beautiful, safe, friendly, and hospitable destination for many investors and international friends.
Following the era of independence, the era of unity, and the era of renewal, the 14th National Party Congress officially marked the country's entry into a new era of development – aiming to build a prosperous and strong Vietnam.

According to Consul General Nguyen Viet Dung, throughout its historical journey, Vietnam has received valuable support and assistance from the international community, including the Party, Government, and people of China, during the 81 years of building and defending the country.
On this occasion, the Consul General affirmed the importance of Vietnam-China relations in Vietnam's foreign policy, highlighting the dynamic and substantive results in the cooperation between Vietnam and Guangdong Province in recent times in areas such as investment, trade, education, and culture.

For the large overseas Vietnamese community, Consul General Nguyen Viet Dung emphasized their important position and role as a strategic resource and an inseparable part of the Vietnamese ethnic community. This has been affirmed in Resolution No. 23-NQ/TW dated August 2, 2026, of the Politburo on the work of overseas Vietnamese.
On this occasion, the Consul General expressed his hope that the overseas Vietnamese community would be more active in building a united and developing community, contributing more to the cause of national development and defense.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Guangdong Provincial People's Political Consultative Conference Zhang Shaokang congratulated the 81st anniversary of Vietnam's National Day; emphasised the deepening friendship and mutual understanding between the peoples of the two countries; and reviewed the important outcomes of the visit to China by General Secretary and President of Vietnam To Lam in April 2026.
Mr. Zhang Shaokang highlighted the notable results in economic-trade exchanges, investment, and people-to-people exchanges between Guangdong and various Vietnamese ministries, sectors, and localities. A new highlight is the breakthroughs in infrastructure cooperation as Guangdong's metro corporations have consecutively won bids for urban railway projects in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi.
Mr. Zhang Shaokang expressed confidence that exchanges and cooperation between the two sides will enter a new chapter with even more brilliant results in the future.

At the ceremony, Chinese friends and overseas Vietnamese expressed their impressions and joy about Vietnam's socio-economic development achievements in recent times. This was also an occasion for guests attending the Anniversary Ceremony to witness firsthand images of the country and people of Vietnam through meticulously crafted video clips and to experience the unique culinary culture such as pho, spring rolls, and fresh rolls of Vietnam, along with signature dishes from Guangdong Province. |
