On June 16, at the headquarters of the Lao Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Anouparb Vongnorkeo received Consul General Nguyen Van Dung on the occasion of presenting the consular credentials and commencing his term in Savannakhet.
Deputy Minister Anouparb Vongnorkeo warmly welcomed Consul General Nguyen Van Dung to his new role, expressing confidence that he will have a successful term, contributing positively to strengthening and developing the "great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation, and strategic connection" between Laos and Vietnam.
Affirming the importance of relations with Vietnam, the Lao Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs emphasized that the achievements made in recent times provide a solid foundation for the two countries to continue promoting cooperation in political, economic, trade, investment, education, culture, and tourism sectors, as well as enhancing coordination at regional and international forums.
Regarding the Central Laos region, Deputy Minister Anouparb Vongnorkeo noted its strategic importance with significant development potential, connected to Vietnam and other regional countries through key infrastructure projects such as the Hanoi-Vientiane expressway, the Thakhek-Vung Ang railway, and the Lao-Thai friendship bridge system. The Deputy Minister expressed hope that Consul General Nguyen Van Dung will continue to promote connections between Central Laos localities and Vietnamese localities, especially provinces sharing a border.
In response, Consul General Nguyen Van Dung thanked the Lao Ministry of Foreign Affairs for their warm reception and conveyed greetings from the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the Lao Ministry of Foreign Affairs leaders. The Consul General affirmed his utmost efforts to contribute to strengthening and expanding the traditional friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.On the same day, at the headquarters of the Central Committee for External Relations of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, Comrade Bounleua Phandanouvong, Central Committee Member and Head of the Central Committee for External Relations, warmly received Consul General Nguyen Van Dung.

During the meeting, Head of External Relations Bounleua Phandanouvong congratulated Comrade Nguyen Van Dung on his appointment as the Vietnamese Consul General in Savannakhet, expressing confidence that with his extensive diplomatic experience, the Consul General will continue to be an important bridge promoting the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.
Both sides highly valued the outstanding cooperation results in political, economic, trade, investment, and people-to-people exchanges in recent times, agreeing to enhance coordination in implementing high-level agreements between the two countries' leaders. They also agreed to effectively organize activities commemorating the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Laos and the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Vietnam-Laos Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation in 2027.
On June 17, at the headquarters of the Lao National Assembly, Comrade Sounthon Xayachak, Central Committee Secretary and Vice President of the Lao National Assembly, received Consul General Nguyen Van Dung.

The Vice President of the Lao National Assembly congratulated Comrade Nguyen Van Dung on his appointment as the Vietnamese Consul General in Savannakhet, expressing confidence that with his experience and deep understanding of Vietnam-Laos relations, he will excellently fulfill his assigned duties, contributing to deepening and enhancing the effectiveness of cooperation between the two countries.
