At the regular press conference of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang stated that in 2026, Vietnam and Chile will celebrate the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations with numerous activities.
According to Ms. Hang, Chile is Vietnam's fourth-largest trading partner in the Americas, while Vietnam is Chile's largest trading partner within ASEAN.
The trade turnover in the first six months of 2026 reached 926 million USD, marking a 25.1% increase compared to the same period last year. The two countries have a bilateral free trade agreement (VCFTA), are both members of the CPTPP and APEC, and cooperate closely, supporting each other at regional and multilateral forums.
Providing further details at the press briefing, the Foreign Ministry's Spokesperson noted that during the visit, the Chilean Foreign Minister will hold talks with Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung, meet with Prime Minister Le Minh Hung, and engage in other activities in Vietnam.
