In early 2024, the company’s products officially entered some of the world’s most demanding markets, such as Australia and New Zealand, bringing the company’s total international markets to 18 countries. After over a decade, Ca Mau Fertilizer has exported more than 1.8 million tons of fertilizer to global markets, with a total value of more than 782 million USD.

The thousand-mile journey from the land at the end of the Fatherland

From the land at the end of the Fatherland - Ca Mau, where nature is wild and full of challenges for economic and social development, Ca Mau Fertilizer has grown enormously, achieved many achievements in production and business, contributing to the economic and social development of the locality in particular and the whole country in general.

As one of the critical national projects of the Viet Nam Oil and Gas Group (PVN), PVCFC was established on March 9, 2011, to serve millions of farmers with high nutritional fertilizers suitable for many crops and land. By 2024, PVCFC has owned three factories, including the Ca Mau Fertilizer Factory, Ca Mau NPK Factory and Korea - Viet Nam NPK Plant with a total capacity of up to nearly 1.5 million tons of fertilizer/year.

As an enterprise with Vietnam’s leading fertilizer production capacity, Ca Mau Fertilizer’s factories always operate safely and stably. On December 7, 2023, Ca Mau Fertilizer’s factories officially reached the output milestone of 10 million tons of urea, operating optimally at 110 - 115% compared to the design capacity. Following that success, the establishment of the Ca Mau NPK Plant in 2021 and the merger of the Korea - Viet Nam NPK Plant from Taekwang-Huchems Group in 2023 are significant steps forward in the strategy of completing nutritional solutions for crops that the company continuously deploys to contribute to diversifying the supply of high-quality fertilizers, accompanying farmers in sustainable farming. Ca Mau NPK Plant and Korea - Viet Nam NPK Plant have capacities of 300,000 and 360,000 tons/year.

With its existing internal resources, many efforts to improve product quality and the right business strategy, PVCFC has quickly made its name among the “giants” of the Vietnamese fertilizer industry. In 2022, Ca Mau Fertilizer recorded a revenue of more than 16,412 billion VND. The brand also affirmed its position in the international market by bringing high-quality products to the domestic market with products that meet quality standards. Ca Mau Fertilizer’s thousand-mile journey began from the land at the end of the Fatherland, carrying the relentless efforts and aspirations of Vietnamese enterprises.

Riding the Waves: Finding Opportunities from Surrounding Challenges

According to the Viet Nam Fertilizer Association, only major domestic fertilizer manufacturers supply about 3 million tons of urea yearly, while consumption demand is only about 1.6 - 1.8 million tons/year. In addition, because fertilizers are not subject to value-added tax, enterprises are not allowed to deduct input tax, increasing the price of finished products and causing domestic fertilizer enterprises to lose their competitive advantage compared to imported goods. The supply-demand imbalance and the lack of competitive advantage in price have caused Vietnamese fertilizer enterprises to face many difficulties and challenges.

Thanks to the strategic vision of the board of directors and the staff’s efforts, Ca Mau Fertilizer has found opportunities and challenges, such as exports. The board of directors determined that the company’s strategy is in the domestic market and towards the regional and international ones. The company has implemented many effective business solutions, optimized production processes and improved product quality. Thanks to Spain and Japan’s modern machinery and production lines, Ca Mau Fertilizer has launched many high-quality product lines that meet international standards and market demand. From those efforts, the company has successfully brought its brand to 18 countries with a total export volume of up to 1.844 million tons of fertilizer valued at 782 million USD. In 2023 alone, Ca Mau Fertilizer exported 344 thousand tons of fertilizer, accounting for more than 40% of the company’s production output. The export value has grown, contributing to revenue and profit. The export route helps Ca Mau Fertilizer maintain stable operations, ensure inventory, expand the market, and enhance brand reputation internationally.

International quality and brand reputation

Product quality is the core factor in Ca Mau Fertilizer’s development strategy. In addition to the main product lines of slow-release granular Urea, which helps plants absorb nutrients effectively, large, uniform, sturdy granules that minimize dust and mites, high-quality Ca Mau NPK with polyphosphate technology, three nutrients N-P-K in 1 granule, helping plants absorb nutrients fully, Ca Mau Fertilizer also invests in R&D, perfecting a comprehensive set of solutions to provide nutrients for plants with a line of biological minerals & microorganisms (N.Humate + TE, Ure Bio), high-grade organic fertilizers (OM Ca Mau), single fertilizers, complex fertilizers, etc.

Ca Mau Fertilizer has won many awards, including national brands and certification of high-quality Vietnamese goods, especially the company’s products that meet strict international standards such as ISO 9001 to ensure efficiency and safety. Thanks to that, Ca Mau Fertilizer has successfully put its name on the map of many regions worldwide, including demanding markets such as Australia and New Zealand - where high standards of quality and product safety are required.

In addition, Ca Mau Fertilizer has also built its brand reputation through social responsibility activities. The company has implemented many programs to support farmers, providing knowledge and advanced farming techniques and contributing to improving agricultural productivity and efficiency. With a sustainable development strategy, Ca Mau Fertilizer established an ESG committee with many solutions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, such as CO2 recovery and CO2 food projects. Ca Mau Fertilizer Plant is in the top 10% of the lowest energy consumption factories globally from Haldor Topsoe. In addition, Ca Mau Fertilizer pays special attention to social security, with a total budget of nearly 500 billion VND. In which the fields of health, education, care for people with low incomes, people with meritorious services, and programs to promote socio-economic development are prioritized. Ca Mau Fertilizer’s journey to the world demonstrates the solid steps on the trip to the big sea. From taking advantage of opportunities in challenges and building a brand reputation to conquering demanding markets, the brand has found a foothold in the international market. This success is not only the company’s pride but also affirms the competitiveness of Viet Nam’s fertilizer industry. Product quality and brand reputation are a solid foundation for PVCFC to move to the big sea, making a significant contribution to the image of Vietnamese brands in the international arena.
