BRG Group Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Nga: A businesswoman with a vision for sustainable development

Have been in business for over three decades, but Madame Nguyen Thi Nga, BRG Group Chairwoman, rarely discusses her success. Her stories are always associated with the development of the community, society and the country's sustainable development. She always hopes that people can enjoy the most beautiful things right in their homeland, contributing to creating a prosperous and sustainable future for the current and future generations.

For current and future generations' sustainable development

Under the leadership of Madame Nga, BRG Group has always been steadfast in its sustainable development strategy in building a multi-industry and multi-service economic ecosystem, aiming to ensure the three pillars of sustainable development: effective economic growth, social progress and equity, and environmental protection.

Last August, Madame Nga represented BRG Group and three other entities, including Sumitomo Corporation (Japan), North Hanoi Smart City Development Investment Joint Stock Company (NHSC) and Thang Long Industrial Park (TLIP) to sign a MoU on decarbonization through energy management between North Hanoi Smart City and Thang Long Industrial Park.

Right after the signing ceremony in Hanoi, four entities' representatives presented this MoU within the framework of the Asia Zero Emission Community (AZEC) Leadership Conference held in Indonesia with the participation of the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and ASEAN's government agencies including Vietnam.

With a mission to contribute the best to the community, Madame Nguyen Thi Nga and BRG Group and parties relevant hope to make the North Hanoi Smart City project, a critical economic cooperation project between the Vietnamese and Japanese governments, the world's first carbon-neutral urban area in Vietnam and the world. This will serve as a model for Hanoi and Vietnam in developing a more sustainable environment and contribute to achieving Vietnam's commitment at COP26 to reach net-zero emissions by 2050 and the National Action Plan on Climate Change for 2021-2030.

People-centred

Madame Nguyen Thi Nga is deeply committed to a people-centred approach in all Group's activities, mainly focusing on gender equality and women's empowerment. BRG Group has more than 22,000 employees, of which women account for 60% of the total employees and over 50% of the Group's senior leadership team. At the same time, attractive salary, bonus, and benefits packages, as well as a transparent promotion path, encourage employees to have a long-term commitment to the group's development.

In early 2024, Madame Nguyen Thi Nga was honoured by The Global Economics Magazine as "Outstanding Female Entrepreneur 2023", recognizing her tireless contributions to the Vietnamese female entrepreneur community over the years and her accompaniment and positive contribution not only to the economy but also to the country's sustainable development.

As Permanent Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam Private Entrepreneurs Association, Madame Nga has directed and implemented many comprehensive and consistent support programs, creating a driving force to connect, promote and support the business community, especially female-owned businesses. In particular, Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Nga and BRG Group have preserved and developed the ancient Chu Dau ceramic line with a nearly 600-year history, a quintessence of Vietnamese culture whose founder, Bui Thi Hy, a typical and brave intellectual, artisan, businesswoman, and navigator, has made Vietnam famous around the world since the 15th century through sophisticated ceramic products.

During her visits abroad, Madame Nguyen Thi Nga has always shared the orientations and consistency in development strategies, especially efforts for gender equality in Vietnam. In December 2022, at the World Council for Women (WAW!) Conference in Tokyo, she addressed many world leaders. She was the only Vietnamese businesswoman to attend at the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan.

Since the beginning of 2023, BRG Group and SeABank have sponsored 1,200 houses for households with housing difficulties in Ha Tinh and Nghe An, with a total cost of up to 60 billion VND

In parallel with efforts to protect the environment and develop sustainably, social responsibility is also one of the development pillars that Madame Nguyen Thi Nga aims for when directing BRG Group to implement many community activities such as social security programs, donating to the "Fund for the Poor", building charity houses, houses for households with housing difficulties, etc.

The sustainable development philosophies have been consistently and thoroughly implemented by Madame Nguyen Thi Nga and BRG Group in all business activities, fulfilling the responsibility of a model enterprise to society and the country, aiming for good values to spread the spirit of love, sharing and responsibility for the current and future generations.
