AMM 59: Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung meets Panamanian counterpart Javier Eduardo Martínez-Acha Vásquez
WVR - On July 24, in Manila, Philippines, Politburo Member and Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung met with Panama's Minister of Foreign Affairs Javier Eduardo Martínez-Acha Vásquez on the occasion of the 59th ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting and related meetings.

The two Ministers were pleased to review significant achievements over more than 50 years of Vietnam-Panama relations, especially the positive growth in bilateral trade, which increased from 364 million USD in 2015 to 474 million USD in 2025.
Minister Javier Eduardo Martínez-Acha Vásquez expressed admiration for Vietnam's development achievements following its struggle for national independence and reunification, affirming that Vietnam is an important partner for Panama in the Asia-Pacific region.
Both sides agreed to continue promoting exchanges of delegations at all levels and to coordinate preparations for high-level visits in the near future. They also aim to expand cooperation in areas with significant potential such as trade, agriculture, investment promotion and protection, maritime, aviation, telecommunications, customs, tourism, language training, and combating transnational crime.
The two Ministers also agreed to enhance connections between agencies, associations, and business communities of the two countries to seek cooperation opportunities that align with each side's needs and strengths.
Minister Le Hoai Trung appreciated the close coordination between the two countries at multilateral forums, especially the United Nations, affirming that Vietnam is ready to serve as a bridge to promote relations between Panama and ASEAN and the Southeast Asian region.

Meanwhile, Minister Javier Eduardo Martínez-Acha Vásquez highly appreciated Vietnam's increasingly prominent role and position in ASEAN and supported strengthening relations between Vietnam and the Organization of American States (OAS) and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC).
Both sides agreed to coordinate the successful organization of the second Vietnam-Panama Political Consultation Session, scheduled to take place in Vietnam from July 27-29, to review specific areas of cooperation and propose practical measures to deepen and enhance the effectiveness of bilateral relations.
