WVR - On the afternoon of February 9, Vietnamese Ambassador to France Trinh Duc Hai paid a courtesy visit to Mr. Benoît Guidée, Head of the Asia-Australia Department, marking the beginning of his term.

During the meeting, both sides highly valued the positive and robust developments in bilateral relations recently. They agreed that, under the strategic guidance of the high-level leaders of both countries, the Vietnam-France Comprehensive Strategic Partnership is deepening in a substantive and effective manner.

Ambassador Trinh Duc Hai affirmed that Vietnam always prioritizes enhancing multifaceted cooperation with France – the first EU member state with which Vietnam established a comprehensive strategic partnership framework.

The Ambassador briefly shared the success of the 14th National Congress of the Party, a critically important political event in Vietnam, marking strategic directions for a new development phase.

He expressed his readiness to closely coordinate with the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs to leverage the role of a bridge, advancing bilateral relations in line with the stature of the new relationship framework.

Looking to the future, the Ambassador proposed that both sides effectively implement the Joint Statement on upgrading relations to a Vietnam-France Comprehensive Strategic Partnership; fully exploit the potential for cooperation in economy, trade, and investment.

He also expressed hope that France would expedite the ratification process of the EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) to facilitate businesses from both countries, bringing tangible benefits to the people and contributing to sustainable economic growth for each side.

For his part, Mr. Benoît Guidée congratulated Ambassador Trinh Duc Hai on his new role and affirmed that France always places Vietnam as a top priority in its foreign policy in the region. He regarded Vietnam as a pioneering partner and a model of cooperation for France in Southeast Asia.

The French Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed its commitment to closely coordinate with the Vietnamese Embassy in France to realize the orientations of high-level leaders, focusing on strategic areas such as energy, transportation, aerospace, and science and technology.

Discussing multilateral cooperation, both sides agreed to enhance the sharing of positions and closely coordinate at international and regional forums, contributing to peace, stability, and development in the region and the world.
