WVR - On the morning of February 9, at the Lao Embassy in Paris, Vietnamese Ambassador to France Trinh Duc Hai paid a courtesy visit to Lao Ambassador Kalamoungkhoune Souphanouvong on the occasion of commencing his term.

During the meeting, Ambassador Trinh Duc Hai emphasized that choosing the Lao Embassy as one of the first destinations in his courtesy activities at the start of his term highlights the special importance the Party and State of Vietnam place on the traditional friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.

The Ambassador stressed that the relationship between the two countries is an invaluable asset, forged through periods of national liberation struggles and nation-building. Recalling the recent state visit to Laos by General Secretary To Lam, the Ambassador expressed confidence that following the success of the 14th Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the 12th Congress of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, bilateral relations will enter a new phase of more substantive and effective development.

Sharing personal connections, Ambassador Trinh Duc Hai noted his deep affection for Laos through his long-standing work on border issues.

With experience as Co-chair of the Joint Border Expert Meeting between the two countries, the Ambassador affirmed that these experiences are a crucial foundation for him to continue contributing to strengthening the relationship between the two representative offices in France.

The reception took place in a sincere and mutually trusting atmosphere.

On the Lao side, Ambassador Kalamoungkhoune Souphanouvong warmly congratulated Ambassador Trinh Duc Hai on his new assignment in France. The Lao Ambassador expressed admiration for Vietnam's remarkable socio-economic development achievements, especially its strategic directions for large-scale transportation infrastructure.

Within the framework of cooperation at the location, the two Ambassadors agreed to continue promoting the tradition of close coordination between the two representative offices in Paris by enhancing information exchange, sharing diplomatic experiences, and supporting each other at multilateral forums such as UNESCO and the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF).

The two sides also agreed to boost activities within the ASEAN Committee in Paris (ACP) to enhance the bloc's position and voice locally.

The meeting took place in a sincere and trusting atmosphere, vividly reflecting the special Vietnam-Laos relationship, laying a favorable foundation for coordination between the two embassies in the future.
