Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister Ngo Le Van highly appreciated the enduring and dedicated contributions of Ambassador Saadi Salama in strengthening and developing the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Palestine over the past 40 years. From his days as a student learning Vietnamese in Hanoi to his role as the Ambassador of the State of Palestine in Vietnam, he has always held a deep affection and special bond with Vietnam.
The Deputy Minister emphasized that the awarded title reflects goodwill, trust, and the values that Ambassador Saadi Salama has persistently nurtured in the relationship between the two nations. The image of an ambassador well-versed in Vietnamese language and culture is a vivid testament to the enduring friendship and strong ties between the two peoples. He affirmed that the Ambassador is a friend, a citizen of friendship and peace.
Notably, the Deputy Minister commended Ambassador Saadi Salama, in his role as Head of the Diplomatic Corps in Vietnam, for actively promoting coordination and connection, making practical contributions to enhancing friendship, solidarity, and cooperation between the Diplomatic Corps and Vietnam, thereby helping to build an open, trustworthy, and effective foreign relations environment.

Congratulating Ambassador Saadi Salama at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Manh Quyen highly valued the Ambassador's outstanding contributions, which have left a profound mark on the development of Hanoi, bringing practical value to the community. Vice Chairman Nguyen Manh Quyen affirmed that the title is a prestigious recognition from the Government and People of the Capital to foreign individuals who have made significant achievements and devoted their intellect and affection to the Capital.
Expressing his gratitude and emotion upon receiving the title of Honorary Citizen of Hanoi, Ambassador Saadi Salama shared his journey of over 45 years with Vietnam, witnessing and appreciating Hanoi's strong development from a capital with many challenges to a dynamic, modern political, economic, and cultural center, while still preserving its identity.
The Ambassador expressed: “Vietnam, and especially Hanoi, is not just a place of work but has become a second home – a place where I always dedicate my affection, gratitude, and responsibility.”
Ambassador Saadi Salama also affirmed that the title of Honorary Citizen of Hanoi will be a great motivation and a significant responsibility for him to contribute even more to the relationship between the two countries, as well as for a world of peace, justice, and humanity.
