Actively promote the image of Hanoi tourism to domestic and international tourists

According to the Hanoi Department of Tourism, in August 2023, the capital’s tourism industry welcomed 2.18 million visitors, an increase of 23.1% over the same period in 2022. In particular, international visitors are estimated to reach more than 382,000, increasing by nearly 21.5 times over the same period in 2022.
The domestic market personally reached 1.8 million visitors, which increased by 12.5% compared to the same period in 2022. Total revenue from visitors is estimated at more than 8.07 trillion VND, an increase of 38.1% over the same period in 2022.
Overall, in the past 8 months, Hanoi’s tourism industry welcomed 16.9 million visitors, which increased by 36.2% during the same period in 2022.

In particular, international tourists to Hanoi are estimated to reach 2.79 million visitors, an increase of 4.6 times over the same period in 2022; domestic tourists are estimated to reach 14.1 million visitors, up 19.5% over the same period in 2022. Total revenue from tourists is estimated to reach 61.6 trillion VND, up to 63.1% year over year.
Regarding accommodation establishment activities, as of August 2023, in Hanoi there are 3,756 tourist accommodations with 70,218 rooms; including 603 hotels have been rated from 1-5 stars with 25,550 rooms, accounting for 16.1% of the total number of tourist accommodation establishments in the area and 36.3% of the total number of rooms. With this number of tourist accommodation, Hanoi can fully meet the increasing tourist demand in the upcoming time.

Director of Hanoi Department of Tourism Dang Huong Giang said that in order to attract tourists to choose the capital as a destination, from now till the end of 2023, the Hanoi Department of Tourism will promote activities to support tourism businesses in connecting with key tourism provinces in the South, Central Highlands, and Central region to build a linked tourism program to attract visitors to the Capital.
The Department also deployed the construction of waterway tours connecting tourist destinations on the Red River departing from Chuong Duong Do Wharf (Hoan Kiem District); Research on developing tourist villages in Soc Son District; Center for creative design combined with tourism activities in Phu Xuyen District. At the same time, the Department organized events, programs, and festivals to promote the capital’s tourism, such as: Travel photo contest “Hanoi capital welcomes you”, Hanoi Tourism Gift Festival 2023, and Hanoi Tourism Ao Dai Festival.
With the aim of creating an attractive destination, the Hanoi Department of Tourism has actively built products, cooperated in market promotion and development, coordinated with agencies and units to build economic development models for agricultural and rural tourism and promoted the pilot construction of community tourism models associated with practical experiences in craft villages and tourist destinations associated with traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities in Ba Vi District.

In particular, the Department has surveyed the construction of waterway tours connecting tourist destinations on Red River departing from Chuong Duong Do Wharf, Hoan Kiem District; coordinate with districts to research and propose the implementation of new cultural tourism and craft village models, such as the tourist village in Soc Son District and the center for creative design combined with tourism activities in Phu Xuyen District.
In addition, in order to promote the image of Hanoi tourism to domestic and international tourists, the Department will promote propaganda of the capital’s tourism on domestic and international media and channels, such as CNN and social media platforms. The Department will also organize cooperation and promotion activities to attract international visitors in key markets of Northeast Asia, France, some European, Americas countries, India, and China.
