14th National Party Congress: Press Conference on breakthrough guidelines for foreign affairs and international integration
WVR - Member of the Party Central Committee's Secretariat and Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung stated that the Draft Political Report for the 14th National Party Congress inherits and develops many new and important contents, with breakthrough guidelines on foreign affairs and international integration in response to changes in the international and regional landscape and domestic development needs.

On the afternoon of January 14, at the international press conference for the 14th National Party Congress, Party Central Committee Secretary and Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung provided information on a number of important adjustments and additions regarding foreign affairs in the draft documents of the 14th National Party Congress in the new context.
According to Party Central Committee Secretary, Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung, foreign affairs have always been a crucial component, consistently updated and supplemented in the Political Reports of each Party Congress. This reflects the continuity and development of foreign policy thinking, responding to the new international and domestic realities.
The foreign policy of the Communist Party of Vietnam outlined in the Draft Political Report for the 14th Party Congress is based on the tradition of Vietnam's foreign affairs and diplomacy and the foreign policy of the Communist Party of Vietnam since its establishment in 1930, especially during the Renovation period and most recently the 13th Congress. The Draft also develops many new and important contents, with breakthrough guidelines on foreign affairs and international integration in response to changes in the international and regional landscape and domestic development needs.
Specifically, Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung highlighted a number of new points:
Regarding guiding principles, the Draft Political Report for the 14th National Party Congress adds the perspective that "strengthening national defense, security, and promoting foreign affairs and international integration are essential and regular tasks". This new strategic perspective in the revolutionary path in general and related to the foreign policy of the Communist Party of Vietnam emphasizes a higher role but also sets higher demands on the role and tasks of foreign affairs in achieving national goals.
Regarding policy, the Congress adds the concept of "self-reliance" in the foreign policy of "independence, self-reliance, peace, friendship, cooperation, and development" and the content of "developing foreign affairs in the new era, commensurate with the historical, cultural stature and position of the country".
Additionally, the Congress supplements important orientations such as comprehensive, deep, synchronized, and effective international integration, enhancing Vietnam's role and position in global politics, the global economy, and human civilization, actively and responsibly participating in addressing common international and regional issues, and contributing to building a fair, equal, mutually beneficial international and regional order based on international law.
This Draft Political Report also sets out requirements for ensuring resources for foreign affairs commensurate with the new position and strength of the country to meet the demands and tasks in the new situation.
In terms of the direction of tasks and methods of conducting foreign affairs, the Draft Political Report for the 14th National Party Congress emphasizes the content of "promoting and elevating multilateral diplomacy", "actively participating in building and shaping multilateral institutions", "effectively utilizing diverse diplomatic methods, especially high-level and specialized diplomacy", "effectively implementing international commitments and agreements", "building a comprehensive, modern, professional diplomacy" and other new contents.
