This meaningful activity commemorates the 100th birth anniversary of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz (August 13, 1926 – August 13, 2026) – an outstanding leader of the Cuban Revolution, a great friend, and a loyal comrade of the Party, State, and People of Vietnam.
Attending the seminar were Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam Rogelio Polanco Fuentes; Deputy Ambassador, First Secretary, Counselor, and Military Attaché of the Cuban Embassy in Vietnam; journalist Vuong Xuan Nguyen, author of the book Fidel Castro Ruz – From Childhood to Legend; representatives of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association; representatives from various central agencies, departments, and ministries, as well as lecturers and researchers from the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics and other educational and research institutions.
On behalf of the two organizing units, there were Mr. Nguyen Thai Binh, Deputy Director, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the National Political Publishing House Truth; Ms. Pham Thi Thanh, Director of the Institute of Scientific Information, Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics; along with representatives of the leadership of affiliated units of the Academy and the Publishing House.

From childhood to a great personality
In anticipation of the 100th birth anniversary of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, the National Political Publishing House Truth has collaborated with the Fidel Castro Ruz Center (Cuba) and related agencies to compile, edit, and publish several works about the great leader of the Cuban revolution, including the publication "Fidel Castro Ruz – From Childhood to Legend" by journalist Vuong Xuan Nguyen.
The book takes readers back to the early years of Fidel – where a personality was formed, an ideal was sown, and resilience was gradually forged, allowing for a deeper understanding of a man who made significant marks in history, a symbol, and a legend worldwide.
Speaking at the seminar, Mr. Nguyen Thai Binh emphasized that the value of the book lies in the fact that from the story of one person, we can gain broader insights into a generation, an era, and a country.

Through the book Fidel Castro Ruz: From Childhood to Legend, one can see the close connection between historical circumstances and personal growth; between ideals and actions; between individual resilience and the destiny of a nation. These issues not only belong to the past but also provoke much reflection for today.
Mr. Nguyen Thai Binh affirmed that the publication and introduction of works about Fidel Castro Ruz are not only significant in terms of research, education, and culture but also help today's generations, especially the youth, to gain a deeper understanding of a great friend of Vietnam, the history of the Cuban Revolution, and the values of international solidarity.
The vitality of Vietnam-Cuba friendship
At the seminar, Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam Rogelio Polanco Fuentes and journalist Vuong Xuan Nguyen, author of the book Fidel Castro Ruz – From Childhood to Legend, shared many genuine and emotional perspectives on the core qualities and values in the legacy that make up the stature and timeless appeal of Fidel Castro.
The speakers also shared about the special affection that leader Fidel Castro Ruz had for the Vietnamese people and the affection that the Vietnamese people have for him; the respect, protection, and continuous strengthening of this steadfast affection over the years, thereby contributing to nurturing the special, loyal, and exemplary friendship in international relations between Vietnam and Cuba. They also affirmed that the special friendship and solidarity between the two nations have been and continue to be preserved and continued by the two Parties, two States, and the peoples of both countries in the current new context.

The combination of perspectives from a Cuban diplomat and a Vietnamese author brought diverse approaches to the seminar and left many special emotions.
The event was not only to remember a person who belongs to history but also to ensure that the values pursued by Cuban leader Fidel Castro continue to live in the present and contribute to nurturing the special Vietnam-Cuba friendship for future generations.
