The exhibition will take place from June 16 to July 6 in the Vietnam Fine Art University at No. 42 Yet Kieu Street. It visits more than 100 major cities around the world and attracts 4 million visitors every year. Other Asian destinations in 2018 include Singapore, Tokyo and Kyoto (Japan), and Macau (China).

This year’s exhibition consists of 130 photos in a number of categories, such as Contemporary Issues, Environment, General News, Nature, People and Sports.

Some of the stunning photos on display will include those of Vietnamese-American photographer Nick Ut, who took the famous photo of Phan Thi Kim Phuc (1972); German photographer Carsten Peter, who documented one of the first expeditions in Son Doong Cave (2010); and Vietnamese photographer Maika Elan who focused on the personal life of gay couples in Vietnam in her story ‘The Pink Choice’ (2013).

The 2018 winners were announced at the World Press Photo Awards Show on April 12 in Amsterdam, where Venezuelan photographer Ronaldo Schemidt was honoured as the winner of the World Press Photo 2018.

Founded in 1955 in Amsterdam, the World Press Photo Foundation is a global platform connecting professionals and audiences through trustworthy visual journalism and storytelling. The annual contest has grown into the world’s most prestigious photo competition.

Also on the occasion, a series of events celebrating 45 years of Vietnam - the Netherlands ties will be organised throughout the year in Ha Noi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Da Lat, Hai Phong, and Can Tho with topics related to trade and investment, sustainable development, climate change, water management, agriculture, education, and culture.
