Vinh Long Tourism: To establish its position as a destination for relaxation and experience in the Mekong Delta

Following the administrative boundary merger, Vinh Long tourism has seen significant growth in both visitor numbers and revenue, further affirming its role as a key economic sector of the province. Entering a new era, the local tourism industry is presented with great opportunities to comprehensively restructure and develop, connecting the sea, orchards, and cultural heritage, thereby expanding the experiential space for tourists and enhancing competitiveness on both regional and international tourism maps.

Recently, Vinh Long tourism has made remarkable progress, achieving significant results. State management of tourism has been gradually strengthened; at various levels, sectors, and localities, proactively organised activities and events have served and attracted both domestic and international tourists. Tourism infrastructure has been gradually improved. The province focuses on developing high-quality tourism that is linked to ecology, culture, and agriculture. Tourism products and service quality have been steadily enhanced, with improved accommodation, dining, and transportation services increasingly meeting tourists' needs. Many intra-provincial, inter-provincial, and inter-regional tourism routes have been expanded.

The quality of tourism human resources has been gradually improved in a professional direction. Tourism promotion and marketing efforts have been intensified with diverse forms, aligning with new trends. Besides participating in annual and national-scale tourism events such as the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Festival, Vietnam International Travel Mart - VITM Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City International Travel Expo - ITE HCMC, and fairs in Da Nang and Can Tho, the province has also proactively organized many cultural-tourism activities and events, enriching tourism products, creating a unique identity for the region, and enhancing the province's tourism position. Vinh Long has become a destination for sightseeing, experience, and relaxation, attracting both domestic and international tourists. The strong growth of international visitors, in particular, indicates that Vinh Long's tourism image is increasingly recognised on regional and global tourism maps. This is a positive signal, opening up great opportunities for the province to continue effectively tapping into the international tourist market.

It can be seen that after the administrative boundary merger, tourism products from three localities have helped Vinh Long create a broader, more potential-rich, diverse, and distinctive tourism development space, bringing new, colourful experiences and extending tourists' stays when exploring Vinh Long. Vinh Long tourism develops based on ecosystems, rivers, islands, orchards, traditional craft villages, and cultural heritage, creating a unique identity for the province. It focuses on three main product groups: eco-community-sea-rural agriculture tourism; cultural-historical tourism; and relaxation-health care-entertainment tourism.

Simultaneously, Vinh Long province is focusing on developing waterway tourism routes connecting Ho Chi Minh City with Mekong Delta provinces, linked to traditional craft villages, historical sites, and culinary culture. Many annual cultural, sports, and tourism events have also been organised, creating a substantial impact. Through these events, local cultural values are honoured, spreading the image of green Vinh Long tourism as "Safe - Friendly - Quality". When merged, Vinh Long's tourism products become more diverse, distinctive, and attractive, meeting the needs and tastes of both domestic and international tourists, which is essential. In the future, as all tour routes become more closely connected and tourism products become more diverse and appealing, it will enable Vinh Long to retain tourists longer.

Determined to Make Tourism a Key Economic Sector

The strong recovery and growth in 2025 serve as an essential foundation for Vinh Long tourism to continue sustainable development in the coming period. To truly make tourism a key economic sector contributing to the local sustainable growth by 2030, Vinh Long province has proposed many comprehensive, decisive, and breakthrough solutions. The primary focus is on strengthening state management and coordination of tourism development, developing a comprehensive, long-term tourism development plan, and avoiding fragmented, spontaneous development. Localities are encouraged to proactively develop unique tourism products linked to cultural, ecological, craft-village, and culinary strengths, and to organise annual events to create a distinctive brand, thereby diversifying the province's tourism products. Efforts are being made to attract strategic investors, providing favourable mechanisms, policies, land, and administrative procedures to develop large-scale, high-quality tourism projects with a wide-reaching impact. Priority is given to attracting strategic investments in high-quality accommodation systems, developing key tourism areas with highlights such as "coconut culture", Khmer ethnic culture, and pottery, while also calling for investment in developing sea tourism, waterway tourism, health care tourism, and sports tourism.

To vigorously promote Vinh Long tourism as a safe, friendly, and culturally rich destination, the province is focusing on strengthening promotional efforts and media communication. Digital transformation and information technology are being leveraged to promote Vinh Long's tourism image and destinations.

Additionally, Vinh Long tourism clearly identifies target markets to focus on effective exploitation and development, prioritising product development according to interconnected value clusters. The province focuses on building three key tourism coordination clusters: the orchard-river cluster along the Tien and Hau rivers; the Khmer culture and craft village cluster linked with festival systems and Mang Thit ceramic heritage; and the sea and mangrove forest cluster along the Ba Dong - Con Bung - Con Ngoai axis.

Along with improving policies and mechanisms, the province is focused on enhancing the quality of tourism human resources, strengthening training in professional skills and foreign languages. Annual training courses focus on three core skill groups: service skills, digital skills, and language skills, to build Vinh Long's brand as the "Capital of Community Tourism" in the future.

With many breakthrough, comprehensive solutions and the decisive involvement of the entire political system, along with the support of businesses and residents, there is confidence that Vinh Long tourism will gradually assert its position, becoming one of the leading destinations for relaxation and experience in the Mekong Delta, a "Convergence Land" of green, sustainable values and unforgettable tourism memories for visitors.
