Vietnamese, Uzbek Foreign Ministers hold phone talks

On behalf of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Minister Shavkat Mirziyoyev once again expressed his deepest condolences over the passing of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

He stated that in the hearts of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the people of Uzbekistan, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong is remembered as an outstanding son of the Vietnamese people, an exceptional politician, who made significant contributions to Vietnam's socio-economic development, enhancing Vietnam’s reputation and position regionally and internationally. General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's contributions to the development of the close and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Uzbekistan will forever remain in the hearts of the Uzbek people.

Minister Shavkat Mirziyoyev thanked Minister Bui Thanh Son for the warm reception during his visit to Hanoi in March 2024, affirming that Vietnam is a top priority partner of Uzbekistan in Southeast Asia; agreed to continue to strengthen the close cooperation between the two foreign ministries, contributing to further promoting the Vietnam-Uzbekistan cooperative relations.

On behalf of the Communist Party, President To Lam, the Government, and the people of Vietnam as well as the family of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, Foreign Minister Son thanked the President and the people of Uzbekistan for their timely support, helping Vietnam overcome this difficult time.

Foreign Minister Son affirmed that Vietnam always values its friendly relations and multifaceted cooperation with the countries of Central Asia, particularly Uzbekistan, a country that plays a crucial role and holds a strategic position in the Eurasian connectivity. The Vietnamese Foreign Minister was pleased to note the positive developments in the bilateral relations between the two countries recently with various bilateral and multilateral engagements. Foreign Minister Son noted the contents of the discussions between the two Ministers in March 2024 in Hanoi are being actively implemented to promote political-diplomatic, economic-trade, agricultural, cultural, educational, tourism, transportation, and people-to-people exchange cooperation.

The two Foreign Ministers agreed that the Foreign Ministries of the two countries should continue to play a leading Mrole in promoting bilateral cooperation in areas of potential, through increasing delegation exchanges at all levels, organizing soon the 8th session of the Vietnam-Uzbekistan Intergovernmental Committee on Economic-Trade and Scientific-Technical Cooperation, and maintaining the mechanism of Deputy Ministerial-level Political Consultations.
