The Vietnamese Student Football Tournament kicked off at the National University of Laos on March 15, marking the 94th founding anniversary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCMYU) (March 26, 1931 - 2025).

The opening ceremony drew strong support from representatives of Vietnamese organisations in Laos.

Held annually to promote sports and physical fitness among Vietnamese students in Laos, the tournament fosters camaraderie, sportsmanship, and teamwork. Five teams are competing in a round-robin format, with the top two advancing to the final.

The opening match delivered early excitement, with a quick goal setting the tone for a competitive tournament. Spectators erupted in cheers as players showcased their skills with long-range shots and precise headers.

The final and award ceremony will take place on March 26, coinciding with the HCMYU's anniversary.
