Offering best wishes to Vietnamese women, Chairman Duong Trung Duc said the Vietnamese people in Macau form a diverse, united, and strong community highly valued by the local administration.
As Macau has reopened its door after the COVID-19 pandemic, people’s life and work will soon return to normal, he noted, expressing his hope that the community will develop further and become stronger in the coming time.
On behalf of the Vietnamese Consulate General in Hong Kong and Macau, Consul Nguyen Tuan Anh said that established in 2020, the association in Macau now gathers more than 1,300 members. The celebration of the International Women’s Day aims to honour Vietnamese women who have excelled in not only their jobs and housework but also served as an important factor helping popularise images of their homeland in Macau.
On this occasion, the diplomat also presented certificates of merit to the Vietnamese individuals and collectives in Macau who have made substantial contributions to the association and the homeland.
Before the COVID-19 pandemic, the Macau Special Administrative Region accommodated over 22,000 Vietnamese and Vietnamese-origin people. The number stands at about 7,000 at present, which is expected to recover following Macau’s resumption of activities.
