| The Vietnamese booth, hosted by the Vietnamese Embassy in Chile, showcased a variety of distinctive Vietnamese products to international friends. |
From September 30 to October 2, the ESPACIO FOOD & SERVICE 2025 International Fair took place vibrantly at the Espacio Riesco Exhibition Center (Santiago), attracting over 1,400 booths across 34,442m² and nearly 40,000 visitors. The event included numerous importers, supermarket chains, major hotels and restaurants, along with a large number of food and beverage industry experts from the Latin American region.
Within the fair's framework, the Vietnamese booth, hosted by the Vietnamese Embassy in Chile, introduced many distinctive products to international visitors.
About 50 domestic enterprises sent products for display, ranging from key agricultural products (rice, coffee, dried fruits, fruit juices, spices, instant foods) to handicrafts, kitchenware, and products rich in Vietnamese cultural identity.
Ambassador Nguyen Viet Cuong and Embassy staff were present to assist businesses in promoting their brands, engaging with partners, and seeking cooperation opportunities.
According to the Ambassador, Vietnam's participation in the event aims to strengthen supply-demand connections, expand distribution channels in Chile and other South American countries, while showcasing a dynamic, creative Vietnam ready to accompany businesses in the integration process.
The initial results are very positive. After three days of the fair, nearly 60 Chilean companies registered to exchange and expressed interest in importing Vietnamese products, particularly rice, dried fruits, coffee, fruit juices, frozen seafood, and instant foods.
This signals that Vietnamese goods are increasingly attracting attention in a market with strong purchasing power, high food consumption, and a modern distribution system like Chile.
The event also continues Vietnam's trade promotion activities in Chile, following the Embassy's participation in Expo Café 2025 last July. These consecutive events demonstrate persistent efforts in Vietnam's economic diplomacy strategy, contributing to realizing the trade and investment cooperation potential between Vietnam and Chile, while also opening doors to the Latin American market for Vietnamese goods.
In the context of both countries having established a Comprehensive Partnership, Vietnam is currently a member of both CPTPP and RCEP, while Chile is a CPTPP member and has shown interest in joining RCEP. This indicates that regional trade cooperation mechanisms are opening additional channels for goods from both sides.
The outcomes achieved at the ESPACIO FOOD & SERVICE 2025 Fair show that there is still significant potential for cooperation in the agricultural, food, and beverage sectors. However, to turn opportunities into reality, Vietnamese businesses need to continue investing in quality, building brands, and meeting stringent requirements regarding packaging, traceability, and food safety in the Chilean and broader South American markets.
