At the invitation of National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, Cambodian National Assembly President Samdech Khuon Sudary will officially visit Vietnam from July 27-29.
The visit is a high-level diplomatic activity of great significance in continuing to strengthen and deepen the "good neighborliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, and long-lasting sustainability" between Vietnam and Cambodia.
The visit takes place in the context of the very positive development of relations between the two countries in many fields. Since the beginning of 2026, both sides have conducted exchanges of many high-level leadership delegations.

General Secretary To Lam made a state visit and attended a high-level meeting of two and three parties in Phnom Penh (February 2026). This was followed by official visits to Cambodia by Politburo member, Standing Member of the Secretariat Tran Cam Tu (April 2026), and Politburo member, Head of the Party Central Committee's Commission for Information, Education and Mass MobilisationTrinh Van Quyet (May 2026).
On the Cambodian side, Cambodian People's Party (CPP) Vice President Samdech Men Sam An visited Vietnam to congratulate the success of the 14th Party Congress (January 2026) and most recently made an official visit to Vietnam to attend the 3rd Asian Future Forum of Prime Minister Hun Manet (June 2026). This has strengthened political trust, guided directions, and promoted comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.
Economic, trade, investment, and tourism cooperation has grown strongly, becoming a highlight in the relations between the two countries. Both sides continue to maintain close cooperation in defense and security, contributing to maintaining a peaceful, stable, cooperative, and developing environment. Politburo member, Minister of Public Security Luong Tam Quang recently visited Cambodia and attended the 2nd Ministerial Conference between the Cambodian Ministry of Interior, Lao Ministry of Public Security, and Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security (June 2026).
Both sides have exchanged to promote security cooperation, and cooperation in preventing and combating transnational crimes, especially drug crimes, human trafficking, and online fraud.
Recently, the two countries have also vigorously implemented cooperation in information, communication, culture, and people-to-people exchanges, notably successfully coordinating the organization of the Vietnam Cultural Week in Cambodia, held from June 25-30, 2026.
The visit by Cambodian National Assembly President Khuon Sudary, along with previous visits by high-level leaders of the two countries, once again affirms the importance of strengthening political trust and promoting comprehensive cooperation between the two countries. The visit will also contribute to promoting parliamentary cooperation between the two countries, while enhancing understanding and sharing legislative experiences.
This is also an opportunity for both sides to continue reviewing cooperation results in various fields, especially parliamentary diplomacy, to guide Vietnam-Cambodia relations to a new level, becoming increasingly profound, substantial, and effective.
What outstanding results does the Ambassador expect to achieve from this visit?
Since the first official visit to Vietnam in December 2023 by National Assembly President Samdech Khuon Sudary, cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two countries has been increasingly promoted.
In November 2024, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man officially visited the Kingdom of Cambodia and attended the 12th General Assembly of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP); the 11th General Assembly of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace (IPTP).
During this visit, Cambodian National Assembly President Samdech Khuon Sudary is expected to hold talks with National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, meet with key Vietnamese leaders, and visit some Vietnamese corporations and medical facilities.

Additionally, the specialized agencies of the two National Assemblies are expected to have exchanges to promote cooperation in the coming time.
Therefore, I believe that the visit is not only an opportunity for both sides to exchange situations and enhance political trust; but also an opportunity to determine directions and measures to further enhance the effectiveness of parliamentary cooperation, share experiences in lawmaking, legislative oversight activities, and decide on important issues of each country.
The specialized agencies of the two National Assemblies also have the opportunity to exchange to further enhance cooperation effectiveness, thereby further promoting the role of the legislative bodies of the two countries in encouraging ministries, sectors, localities, and enterprises to actively and effectively implement signed treaties and agreements; continue to closely coordinate and support each other at multilateral forums, especially regional and international parliamentary forums.
On this basis, I hope this visit will continue to create new momentum for cooperation between the two countries in general, and between the two National Assemblies in particular, in the coming time, contributing to strengthening friendship and solidarity between the two countries while maintaining a peaceful and stable environment for focused development.
Vietnam and Cambodia recently celebrated the 59th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and are now preparing for activities to commemorate the 60th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic relations (June 24, 1967 - June 24, 2027). Now, how are the two countries coordinating to organise commemorative activities and focusing on important fields of bilateral cooperation, particularly in parliamentary diplomacy, Ambassador?
We know that Vietnam-Cambodia relations are close neighbourly relations with a long-standing history, built and nurtured over many generations. Towards the 60th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Cambodia diplomatic relations (June 24, 1967 - June 24, 2027), the two countries are planning and actively preparing many activities with profound political, historical, and diplomatic significance.
This is not only an opportunity to look back on six decades of solidarity, attachment, and mutual support between the two peoples, but also an opportunity to reaffirm the political determination of the leaders and people of the two countries in preserving, nurturing, and developing good neighbourly relations, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, and long-lasting sustainability in the new development phase.
This is also an occasion to educate and promote to the people of the two countries, especially the younger generation, about the tradition of solidarity and cooperative friendship between our two peoples.
Currently, the ministries, sectors, and localities of Vietnam and Cambodia are actively building programs and plans to organize activities towards the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations.
I believe that during this visit by Cambodian National Assembly President Samdech Khuon Sudary, both sides will discuss more specifically the implementation of these commemorative activities, including specific cooperation activities between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Cambodian National Assembly, as well as other parliamentary diplomatic activities.
I hope the upcoming commemorative activities, including in parliamentary diplomacy, will be diverse and rich, contributing positively to raising awareness and understanding of the close solidarity between the two countries and towards building increasingly strong bilateral relations.
Thank you, Ambassador!
