Vietnamese Embassy in Venezuela maintains 24/7 contact and implements safety measures for citizens

Early on January 3 (local time), several loud explosions were heard in the capital Caracas, Venezuela. A state of emergency was declared across Venezuela, while U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed the attack and the arrest of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife..
In response to the situation, Ambassador Vu Trung My said that following directives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on citizen protection, the Vietnamese Embassy in Venezuela had prepared measures to ensure the safety of its citizens as soon as the U.S. launched military actions.
Specifically, the Embassy established an emergency communication channel to update the status of Vietnamese citizens in the country. Currently, there are 33 Vietnamese citizens living and working in Venezuela. Among them, 2 reside about 200km from Caracas. The Embassy maintains regular contact and advises citizens to stay put, be cautious about security, and is ready to assist when necessary. The Embassy staff and their families, totaling 29 individuals, live within a 3km radius of the Embassy and are closely knit, offering mutual support. Information among members of the Embassy "family" is exchanged and updated swiftly. Additionally, two Vietnamese construction engineers working in Venezuela are also in regular contact with the Embassy to ensure their safety.
Given the complex and unpredictable security situation in Venezuela, the Vietnamese Embassy in Venezuela advises Vietnamese citizens to remain calm, maintain regular contact with the Embassy, and strictly follow the guidance of local authorities, as well as warnings from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy.

Ambassador Vu Trung My affirmed that the Vietnamese Embassy in Venezuela will continue to follow the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' directives, closely coordinate with domestic and local authorities, monitor the situation, and be ready to implement measures to ensure the security and safety of citizens and the Vietnamese representative mission.
