The occasion saw all of the ambassadors and Guterres compare notes regarding the agenda of the UN Security Council (UNSC), including efforts to combat the spread of the novel coronavirus pandemic.

Guterres added that the UN and its Peacekeeping Operations have moved to shift activities in a bid to provide assistance to countries in order to cope with the pandemic through a range of specific activities.

Indeed, plenty of nations and parties have responded to the call for an unconditional ceasefire of armed conflict globally, he said, adding that some conflicts will still continue to develop due to their complicated nature.

The UN Secretary General highlighted the E10’s significant role in pushing ahead with specific measures aimed at maintaining international peace and security, citing pragmatic and diverse initiatives proposed by various countries when they hold the UNSC monthly presidency.
