Vietnam urges stronger economic ties with Francophone partners: Deputy Minister

During the meeting, Deputy Minister Dang Hoang Giang congratulated Mr. Edgar Doerig on successfully completing his term as the OIF Representative in the Asia-Pacific region, acknowledging his positive contributions to enhancing the relationship between OIF and Vietnam, as well as promoting the voice and image of Francophonie in the Asia-Pacific region.
The Deputy Minister recognized and highly appreciated the contributions of Mr. Edgar Doerig and the OIF Office in promoting and implementing Francophone cooperation activities in Vietnam, particularly in areas such as promoting and teaching French, boosting economic and trade cooperation between Vietnam and Francophone countries, supporting the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals, fostering entrepreneurship, and creating jobs for the youth.
Deputy Minister Dang Hoang Giang affirmed that Vietnam values cooperation with the Francophone community and always supports OIF's efforts to contribute to peace, solidarity, cooperation, and mutual development.
The Deputy Minister emphasized that Vietnam is ready to cooperate and work closely with Cambodia and OIF to successfully organize the 20th Francophone Summit in Siam Reap in November 2026. He also urged OIF to continue prioritizing support for teaching and promoting French in Vietnam and to enhance economic cooperation among Francophone countries.

For his part, Mr. Edgar Doerig expressed his appreciation for the positive cooperation from the Government, agencies, ministries, and Francophone partners in Vietnam during his tenure.
Expressing satisfaction with the results of OIF's activities in Vietnam and the Asia-Pacific region in recent times, Mr. Edgar Doerig affirmed that OIF will continue to accompany Vietnam and Francophone members in the region to promote the teaching and use of French, cultural cooperation, economic and trade cooperation, sustainable development, and will particularly strive to implement sustainable tourism projects and organize Francophone business delegations.
Mr. Edgar Doerig is confident that Vietnam will continue to play its important role as a member of the Francophonie, making positive contributions to the success of the 20th Summit in Cambodia, and enhancing the image of Francophonie in the region.
