Vietnam U17 squad announced ahead of AFC U17 Asian cup 2026 qualifiers

The U17 national football team, comprising 30 members, have been called for training ahead of the AFC U17 Asian Cup 2026 qualifiers, and they will assemble in Hanoi on October 5.

Key players include striker Nguyen Van Duong, top scorer and best player at the U15 National Championship 2024, and midfielder Chu Ngoc Nguyen Luc, named best player at the 2025 National U17 Championship – Thai Son Nam Cup. Goalkeeper Chu Ba Huan, who won best goalkeeper at the same tournament, also features in the lineup.

The team will train at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Centre before departing for Japan on November 5 for a two-week camp, including three friendlies arranged by the Japan Football Association. They are scheduled to return home on November 16 to complete final preparations.

Vietnam have been drawn in Group C with Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong (China), Macau (China), and the Northern Mariana Islands. Matches will be played in Hanoi and Hung Yen from November 22–30.

Winners of each group will advance to the finals in Saudi Arabia in May 2026, alongside Qatar and the eight 2025 quarter-finalists. The top eight teams at the finals will qualify for the FIFA U17 World Cup 2026.
