Vietnam to host the Australia-Vietnam Travel Symposium in Melbourne

According to the plan, from 16 to 21 June 2024, Chairman of Vietnam National Authority of Tourism Nguyen Trung Khanh will lead the Vietnam delegation to attend the Australia-Vietnam Travel Symposium in Melbourne and many side activities.

The symposium is organized to promote tourism cooperation between the two countries, increase the number of tourist exchanges, thereby contributing to the development of tourism in Vietnam and Australia. This is also an opportunity for both sides to update new information on policies, tourism products, tours, tourism infrastructure...

As schedule, Vietnam delegation will have many activities on this occasion such as: bilateral meeting of Vietnam-Australia national tourism agencies; Vietnam-Australia tourism business meeting program (B2B); Bilateral meetings with agencies and organizations such as Tourism Australia, Melbourne airport, Tourism Victoria, Queensland tourism and events, Phillip Island Tourism, Australian attractions, Discova, Western Australian vocational training facility…

In recent years, Australia has always been one of top ten source markets of Vietnam tourism. In 2023, Vietnam welcomed nearly 400 thousand Australian visitor arrivals, an increase of 169.5% compared to 2022. In the first five months of 2024, there have been over 213 thousand Australian visitor arrivals coming to Vietnam, up 35.4% over the same period in 2023. Those visitors tend to stay long and spend high.

Previously, on 7 March 2024, during the official visit to Australia of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh at the invitation of Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, the two sides issued a Joint Statement on upgrading relations to Comprehensive Partnership Strategy. In which states that the two sides will seek opportunities to increase travel and tourism between the two countries. This is also a great opportunity to promote tourism cooperation between the two countries more widely.

Vietnam received attention from the Australian press and media as well as tourists from this country. According to a report by the online flight booking platform Skyscanner in October 2023, Ho Chi Minh City is in the top 10 most sought-after destinations for Australian tourists, with a growth rate of 246% in the past year. Skyscanner also forecasts that HCMC will be one of the top destinations for Australian tourists by 2024.

Australian newspaper The Sydney Morning Herald predicts that Vietnam will continue to be the favorite destination of Australians in 2024, Vietnam is an ideal destination for the "regenerative tourism" trend. This newspaper also recommends Vietnam as one of the promising destinations for tourists who want to start their journey to explore new lands. Australian Micenet magazine specializing in event business has praised and evaluated Central Vietnam as an emerging "hot" destination for MICE tourism...
