Vietnam, China localities to jointly host int’l cycling race

Lao Cai Province of Vietnam is co-ordinating with China's  Yunnan Province to organise an international cycling race in July.

Vietnam’s northern mountainous province of Lao Cai will team up with China’s southwestern province of Yunnan in organising an international cycling race in July, heard a meeting held by the People’s Committee of Lao Cai on June 3.

The event, which will take place on July 8-9, is part of activities responding to the Lao Cai – northwest national tourism year 2017 and preparing for Sa Pa to become a national tourism area.

It also aims to promote images of local people and landscapes to domestic and foreign visitors.

The event is expected to draw participation of 700 cyclists from Vietnam, China and other countries. 

Participants will compete in the category of individual terrain racing in Lao Cai province, while the individual downhill racing category for two age groups of under 35 and above 36 will be held in Hekou district, Yunnan province.
