Vietnam-Brunei FMs co-chair 2nd meeting of Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation

This is the first official visit to Brunei by Mr. Bui Thanh Son as Vietnam's Foreign Minister since the two countries upgraded their relations to Comprehensive Partnership in 2019. The visit is also of great significance in the context that the two countries are celebrating the 30th anniversary of their diplomatic ties. It shows that Vietnam attaches the importance to the relations with Brunei, aims to build and strengthen relations among leaders and promotes multifaceted cooperation between the two countries. The Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation between Vietnam and Brunei (JCBC) which was established in 2000, is the only mechanism between the two countries to review and orient the development of bilateral relations and exchange information and opinions on regional and international issues of mutual concern. In February 2017, the two sides held the first JCBC meeting in Hanoi. During the visit, Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son is due to pay a courtesy call to the Sultan of Brunei Hassanal Bolkiah, attend the Vietnam-Brunei Trade, Culture, Cuisine and Art Exhibition, visit the Vietnam Embassy in Brunei and attend the ceremony to mark the 77th Anniversary of Vietnam's National Day (1945-2022) and 30 years of establishing diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Brunei (1992-2022).(Photo: Hong Nguyen)
