Vietnam and Indonesia deepen cooperation in the digital sector

Vietnam’s FPT Corporation has established a strategic cooperation with Indonesia's Ministry of National Development Planning (Bappenas) across various sectors in the digital field.

The collaboration was set up through the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on collaboration in national digital transformation, talent development, artificial intelligence (AI), green technology, smart cities, and digital economy strategies.

Bappenas Minister Rachmat Pambudy noted in a statement on June 13 that the MoU marks the start of a long-term partnership and a strategic step to accelerate Indonesia’s digital transformation and the Golden Indonesia 2045 Vision. It represents a strategic step toward a strong partnership between the governments of Indonesia and Vietnam, he stressed.

To realise the Golden Indonesia 2045 Vision, Pambudy affirmed that Indonesia must leverage technology, strengthen its industrial base, and invest in young digital talents. The five-year collaboration encompasses strategic fields such as national and sectoral digital transformation planning, e-government, smart planning, and e-monitoring systems.

Meanwhile, the main focus of the cooperation is human resources development through upskilling and reskilling programmes in AI, cybersecurity, software engineering, and data science.

Both countries will also collaborate on pilot projects for smart agriculture, green technology, and sustainable cities while promoting academic collaboration.

Bappenas expressed hope that the cooperation will strengthen the foundation both for Indonesia and Vietnam to emerge as major digital powers in Southeast Asia.

Meanwhile, FPT Corporation CEO Nguyen Van Khoa expressed his optimism that this partnership with Bappenas will help create a more connected and digitally advanced Southeast Asia and Asia-Pacific region.
