At the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Thanh Tinh spoke highly of the results achieved through bilateral cooperation in recent years, particularly France’s technical assistance in drafting and improving legislation, judicial reform, human resource training and the development of supporting legal professions in Vietnam.
Both sides agreed to continue exchanging experience in areas of mutual interest, ranging from institutional and legislative development and the training of judicial officials to the development of the legal profession, mutual legal assistance in civil matters and the handling of international legal issues.
Building on this shared commitment, Deputy Minister Nguyen Thanh Tinh and Ambassador Didier Le Bret signed the 2027-2028 Plan of Cooperation between Vietnam’s Ministry of Justice and the French Embassy in Vietnam.
The plan builds on the Agreement on Legal and Judicial Cooperation between the Governments of the two countries, signed on 10 February 1993. Its key priorities include administrative procedure reform and the modernisation of public administration through digital transformation and the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in legislative drafting.
The two sides will also step up exchanges of experience to improve the legal framework in areas including the handling of administrative violations, State liability for compensation, secured transactions, civil law, and marriage and family law.
They will also focus on improving the management and operation of legal information portals, promoting grassroots-level mediation and ensuring access to legal information and services.
