Vietnam and France hold second maritime dialogue in Paris
WVR - On March 6, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of France jointly organized the second Vietnam-France Maritime Dialogue in Paris, France.

The Vietnamese inter-agency delegation at the Dialogue was led by Vietnam's Ambassador to France Trinh Duc Hai and Deputy Head of the National Boundary Commission, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Tran Truong Thuy. The French delegation was headed by Benoît Guidée, Director of the Asia-Oceania Department, Diego Colas, Director of the Legal Department, and Olivier Poivre d'Arvor, French Ambassador for the Poles and Maritime Issues, Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs.

In a spirit of trust, both sides engaged in substantive and extensive discussions on maritime security, marine economy, and maritime law, where both countries have shared interests. They shared views on the importance of maintaining peace, stability, ensuring security, safety, and freedom of navigation and overflight in the East Sea, and resolving disputes through peaceful means based on international law, particularly the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.
Within the framework of the Dialogue, both sides also discussed maritime cooperation between the two countries, especially in marine economic development, marine environmental protection, marine scientific research, and cooperation in multilateral maritime forums. Both parties acknowledged and expressed hope that maritime cooperation has and will continue to make significant contributions to the development of the Vietnam-France Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
