As repeated on multiple occasions, Taiwan’s organization of live-fire drills around the island seriously violated Viet Nam’s territorial sovereignty over the Truong Sa archipelago, threatened peace, stability, safety and security of navigation, caused tensions and complicated the situation in the East Sea, Hang stressed.
Regarding Viet Nam’s response to China’s recent moves in the East Sea, including the resumption of tourism ships to Viet Nam’s Hoang Sa archipelago and deployment of hospital ship to the Fiery Cross Reef in Viet Nam’s Truong Sa archipelago, Hang affirmed that all activities on the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos without Viet Nam’s permission are violations of Viet Nam’s sovereignty and international law and hold no juridical value.
Viet Nam demands China respect Viet Nam’s sovereignty over the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos, cancel and cease the organization of tours to the Hoang Sa archipelago and other activities that intensify tensions and complicate the situation, Hang said.
The Spokesperson reaffirmed that Viet Nam has sufficient legal basis and historical evidence to assert its sovereignty over the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos in accordance with international law.
