Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son received US Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry at the headquarter of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on September 5, 2022.
The two sides acknowledged positive developments in Vietnam-US relations and discussed measures to strengthen the bilateral relationship in the coming time, including promoting phone talks and exchange visits between the two countries' leaders, looking towards the 10th Anniversary of the establishment of the framework of the Comprehensive Partnership in 2023.
Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son and Special Envoy John Kerry also discussed cooperation in the field of response to climate change at bilateral and multilateral levels.
Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son affirmed that Vietnam is strongly committed to contributing to the global efforts to respond to climate change, and considers this an area of strategic cooperation between the two countries.

For his part, Special Envoy John Kerry reaffirmed that the United States highly appreciates Vietnam's strong commitment to responding to climate change and is ready to support Vietnam through bilateral and multilateral mechanisms to successfully fulfill these commitments.
Expressing special affection for the country and people of Vietnam, Mr. John Kerry affirmed that in any position, he supports the strong development of Vietnam-US relations, bringing practical benefits to the people of the two countries.
