During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on regional and global affairs and discussed practical cooperation in journalism and media as part of efforts to further strengthen Vietnam-China relations. The talks come as both nations commemorate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties (1950 - 2025) and celebrate the Vietnam-China Year of Humanistic Exchanges.
Recalling Chinese General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping’s successful visit to Vietnam in April 2025, Mr. Du highlighted the special bond between the two nations, describing it as “a deep friendship between comrades and brothers.” He also reflected on the historic solidarity between Vietnam and China during Vietnam’s resistance war against the U.S., citing the close ties between President Ho Chi Minh and early Chinese leaders such as Chairman Mao Zedong and Premier Zhou Enlai.
Mr. Du underscored the critical role of journalism in shaping public opinion and supporting diplomacy. He noted that in China, the media serves as a crucial tool to enhance public understanding of foreign affairs. Although the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs does not have its own press outlet, it currently oversees the publication of World Affairs Journal, which performs functions similar to The World & Vietnam Report.
Proposing future directions for cooperation, Mr. Du emphasized the need for both sides to strengthen coordination and support in a rapidly evolving global media landscape. “Our two countries’ media agencies must help each other expand their influence and continue to play a positive role in shaping public awareness,” he said.

Deputy Editor-in-Chief Hoang Diem Hanh expressed her appreciation for the delegation’s visit, especially on the occasion of the 100th years of Vietnamese Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2025). She recalled that the first edition of Thanh Nien newspaper - founded by leader Nguyen Ai Quoc (later President Ho Chi Minh) - was published exactly a century ago on June 21, 1925, in Guangxi, China. This date later became the milestone marking the birth of Vietnam’s revolutionary press.

Ms. Hanh provided an overview of The World & Vietnam Report, the official publication of Vietnam’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The newspaper is dedicated to reporting on Vietnam’s foreign policy, international affairs, and its relations with global partners. Among its key focuses is comprehensive coverage of Vietnam-China relations across all platforms, from print and online editions to special publications.
She also highlighted the release of a bilingual special issue commemorating 70 years of Vietnam-China ties, and revealed ongoing preparations for another special edition to mark the 75th anniversary, which will include an article by Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam He Wei.
Looking ahead, Ms. Hanh expressed her hope that both sides will deepen cooperation in telling compelling, meaningful stories about the Vietnam-China friendship. She also proposed increased journalist exchanges, content sharing, and professional collaboration between The World & Vietnam Report and China’s World Affairs Journal.
In a warm and candid atmosphere, both parties affirmed their commitment to further leveraging the power of external information and communication to nurture and promote the enduring Vietnam-China relationship founded on mutual understanding, solidarity, and the spirit of being both "comrades and brothers".
