The UK pavilion aims to promote innovative, advanced, technologies, while simultaneously supporting Viet Nam's ambition to modernise its armed forces by 2030. Key objectives include highlighting the UK’s commitment to innovation in defence, enhancing opportunities for partnership with Vietnamese trading companies, and addressing shared security challenges.
The pavilion will feature prominent exhibitors, including BAE Systems, alongside specialised SMEs such as Smytec, Instro, Viasat and Spectra. Together, these companies represent the best of the UK’s defence industry sector, providing a comprehensive overview of advanced, cross-domain capabilities.
Attending the Expo, UK Trade Commissioner for Asia-Pacific, Martin Kent affirmed that Viet Nam International Defence Expo 2024 has been a great opportunity to showcase UK strengths in the defence and security sector and how the sector can support Viet Nam's goal to modernise its armed forces by 2030.
"Partnership is vital in Viet Nam and the broader Asia-Pacific region. Through the International Defence Expo, we have worked to create integrated opportunities for British businesses, helping them to find new partners and share their extraordinary expertise.”, Mr. Kent stressed.
The significance of this event extends beyond the pavilion itself. It underscores the UK’s commitment to deepening its strategic partnership with Viet Nam, reflecting shared interests for peace, security, andprosperity in the region, underpinned by the rules-based international system.
The UK and Viet Namhave built a solid foundation for cooperation, encompassing training, capacity building, and joint initiatives to enhance cross-domain security together with support to peacekeeping pre-deployment training.
